After seeing a few stills Weather Man posted I decided to try and animate and tweak his orignal idea.

This was his orignal idea which I am very keen on, well done. However I've taken it one step further and have re-made it and animated it. I don't think there's much point in explaining how it would work as you can see that for youself in the video. Below are a few stills:

That is EXCALTY how i pictured it animated!! REALLY THAT IS JUST FAB!! and the amazing thing is, it's based on MY IDEA! Such an honour!

I've played it a few times now and I think that it is excellent.

VERY good mocks Bail, however there's a little blip at around the -12 mark at the end, otherwise extremely good.

The quality and layout of the mock is excellent, however I think it would look better if the countdown numbers moved across the screen like a ticker.

Other then that, excellent.

I knew that looked wrong, contact, but I just couldn't think why. I'll change it some point.

Blip at 12 seconds? I presume you mean where the number almost vanishes, that wasn't a blip but does look odd now you mention it. If you mean the audio thats also on purpose, at the start of the audio It's edited to make a thunderclap match with 60 and it runs a second fast untill 12 where I added an extra seconds to make the final 10 pips match.

I would have made it scroll but that would have been too easy, I think the actually countdown needs more emphasis; I might add more bits of flying numbers tomorrow.

I will tweak this, any other ideas. I need to sort the change from 15 seconds make it more interesting. I’ll sort the countdown/ticker thing; I’m not keen on the scrolling numbers that get left after 15seconds… any other ideas?

BBC News Countdown - Version 2 - High Quality

As you can see I've changed the style of it to reflect the current look more. More black and less red. The font is also now swiss, same as the "24" etc. I think the countdown should be "used" more rather than filling a gap, so a 90 - 60second version would always be shown. From 25 seconds the information goes and the big countdown starts.

i like the new one, but im not too sure on what second it is on. There is nothing to say well its at 32 seconds, becouse it is the same graident as the other one's to the left & right

I like them but I think you should make it clear what second it is (when you have the numbers next to each other) I also think you should incorpirate the BBC News 24 swipe action (on the astons).

i like both of them !!
good work, i wonder if it would work for BBC3's 60 seconds with a blue background and the news ticker going at the bottom and the video or pictures from the selected story going where the background is.
