Right. This isn't going to be to everyone's tastes. People think that each channel should have it's own personal identity, hence the different idents that are running within the beeb currently. However, the BBC runs all the channels, so what would happen if they all had fairly similar idents?
Basically, my idea is that each channel will use a set in between programmes. The continuity announcer, whom has not really ever been seen before will be in vision, sitting on a sofa in each corresponding set. Each channel will light the set different colours, so red and white for one, purple and yellow for two, blue and orange for three, and white and blue for four.
The set will be identical apart from the lighting for each channel. The ceiling will be a doughnut shaped ring, through which tv studio floods will illuminate the rest of the set, and eight mini plasma screens showing the channel logo (which I have temporarily substituted with text here) will surround a larger plasma which will show a larger logo. (Oh yes - please forgive the particularly large sixe of the below images, and their rather *****y quality - thanks to powerpoint!).
The continuity announcer will announce the programme, and will also use the set to announce the day's programme line-up. To vary the ident, shots will be made from different parts of the set, so the continuity announcer will not always be sitting at the sofa for each ident.
Well, enough of the ramblings - well done if you made it this far, and if you're still barely alive after all that, please give your comments, no matter how big, small, good or bad. OK, well maybe not the bad.
