And what is the point of even E-Mailing that arty, farty, fairy??? Theres more chance of Trisha of ITV giving birth to an alian.

Folks, get real, dont bother E-mailing Her! You may as well send an E-mail to Granada TV complaining about some C*ap you bought of Shop! the value channel, than ever hope for the BBC to listen to us TV Nutters!

The BBC logs and responds to all complaints that are sent in, there are dedicated teams who deal with this sort of thing.

So yes, it probably is worth a quick email if you feel strongly about anything on the BBC.

Is the BBC ONE logo squashed or is it just the screengrab

Oh. My. God. That is vile! What on earth were they thinking? Surely they don't think we are that stupid that we need on screen clutter telling us what's on next?

Is going to be used on daytime programming or just for evening stuff?

Well it's just been put on over the top of the show on BBC Two plugging what was about to start on BBC Three. So they are obviously going to use it not just for what's next but what they want to push on other channels.

It was also used on BBC One during "Dirty War" at 10pm to highlight the fact that the News would be on at 10.30pm.

TBH, I didn't like it at all, it's intrusive and I think got in the way of the action. HOWEVER, with tweaks to make it more subtle I think it could work better.
BUT, that doesn't mean I think there should be on-screen graphics such as this during programmes.

Just my tuppence...

Ever get the impression that TV people who make decisions like this know fine well that these intrusions are unnecessary and will irriate viewers, but do it anyway because it is in their gift to do so. In other words, it's probably nothing more than a childish little power-trip for them.

I would be interested to hear the opinions of any posters who work in the BBC who feel able to tell us what they think.

Perhaps we need a lower age limit of 40 to work in presentation...

The BBC still bring out the promo for subtitles every so often. How about similar promos promoting use of the EPG and Ceefax p606? Instead of insulting viewers' intelligence with screen junk, they could educate us to the fact such a service already exists.

The BBC should look at the ABC1 next graphic - more subtle, yet very clear. Also, something similar to the one they've been using on BBC3 would have been fine.

What about a digital version of p606, where they could promote BBC channels to their hearts content.

Just have it on the GREEN button, available all the time.

All the channels should agree on the use of the coloured buttons to give as many options as possible. For instance YELLOW could be newsflash. And BLUE could bring up the full interactive menu - the bridge. RED should be reserved for interactive content associated with the current programme.

The ever helpful BBC Information ( Rolling Eyes ) tell me that they have decided to introduce this onto BBC One and Two as their research shows that viewers appreciate the huge amount of screen clutter they provide as it allows them to find their way around their schedules.

Isn't that nice of them? Rolling Eyes

Well, judging by the POV forums, the viewers can' t be finding it that helpful. I think the one in the middle of Dirty Way & the BBC2 one during Little Britain has really set people off.

And who are these "viewers" who participate in research? Relatives of BBC employees paid to say what the Beeb want to hear?

Goodness knows. I once asked them about this "research" when I was complaining about ECP's. Apparently it was carried out with a large viewer base back in 2000.
