Publisher, obviously, is slightly limiting. The quality is dreadful.

It was recently proposed that the BBC should launch a channel to rival al-Jazeera in Iraq. Here are some mocks I did for the channel to use.

My first attempt. Be gentle!

Exclamation This is a clock to be used in late-night news bulletins.

Exclamation This clock is used during general daytime bulletins as a countdown.

Exclamation An ident to be used for more magazine-style programming.

Exclamation Last, for now, but not least, a menu.

Of course, these are relatively simple, but the idea is to remain uncluttered and direct - the channel would show a mix of magazine-style culture programming, government and education-based shows and news and documentaries.

All idents clearly use the clock, and also, the map and street scene are animated and show Iraq from different perspectives. News puts Iraq in a global perspective, hence the map, whereas magazine-style programmes look at direct issues, hence the more direct look.

The clock is importantly established as a mark of the channel as a sign of authority and control, creating trust and showing everything working smoothly and precisely.

GoAround, your mock's design and ideas are very good but obviously the software side of the matter let you down. Inspired by your mock, I have had a go at a menu. I have moved away from the uniform coloured box in the corner style for something different. Let me know what you think and keep up the good work GoAround.

I really like that - clear and direct... perhaps some kind of slightly more sophisticated patterning behind the BBC Iraq side?

However... I have PSP8 but can't for the life of me work out how to use it... It always drives me mad...

Even thought it is the BBC, wouldnt they do a S4C with it!! Have BBC Iraq in English and Arabic? It would end up like the BBC Empire Serivce (Now World Service), they were the first radio station to have both Enlish And Arabic on the air!!!

Like both of the mocks. 9/10 for your first shot!! Better then my first mocks!!!

and let's not forget that al-jazeera is not an iraqi channel, it's a channel based in dubai (i think) and it is broadcast to the Arab world. If it were to rival aljazeera, it would need to be broadcast to the entire middle east and around the world.

Just name it "BBC World Iraq" like BBC World India.

good efforts though goaround, i started at powerpoint, you can only improve by using the better programs.

Surely if it's being broadcast in Iraq, it would have to look more like this?
