I think Indonesia is the only country that wasn't taking the Opening Ceremony Live. At least thats what Bruce Macavaney (Seven Network Commentator) said during the opening ceremony this morning, and he's pretty reliable with his information and stuff, but who knows...perhaps NBC did delay it?

They didn't show the ceremony live?! How disappointing! I watched the opening ceremony of the Atlanta games in Indonesia, and although I am not 100% sure about this (chances are that I am not) but the ceremony had commentry in English with the Indonesian commentators speaking over them, that is atleast how I remember it.

Anyway, I am surprised they didn't show it live for the die hard fans since when the flame was actually lit it would have been about 4am in the capital so it is not as if they are taking up too much prime time viewing.

NBC didn't air it live. It was aired on the prime time, which the ceremony ended 5-7hrs after.

I think NBC delay all their coverage, with the major events shown in US primetime.

It may have been a great idea a few years ago, but in the age of the internet, I don't think it'll work now.

I have never taken much intetest in the Olympics, but I am watching bits of it this year, and must say, I love the music they use. I am listening to a loop of it I recorded from the Olympics Interactive. Full of energy.

Can anyone add some caps of the interactive service on digital satellite and cable?

A well designed service. The Cloud animates on a timelapse in the background of the Big Screen part of the service.

Thanks - the medals thing looks the same on Freeview, but obviously the interactive streams menu is different.

I notice just they are using a ticker occassionally to preview what's coming up.

Also, have they changed the theme. For the preview programme on Thursday their was an obvious change in the titles (to a completely different song?) which sounded awful, but all the titles I've seen since then have used the same tune throughout, sounding much better.

Is this a change, or just the short version of the titles?

has anyone captured a video of the titles from this year's olympics. I was just watching the Sydney titles, and I prefer this years.

Thanks. Much more dramatic and awe inspiring.

What are regions such as the Channel Islands doing (that's analogue comes from the digital feed) when the opts are forced to BBC 2. Does everyone at BBC Channel Islands not need to turn up in the mornings during the Olympics.

BREAKFAST was on BBC ONE until 8am today, so it's only the last two opts that wouldn't have gone out in the Channel Islands. I'm pretty sure they're the only region (as opposed to sub-opt) that can't opt on BBC TWO analogue; the English regions can't opt on BBC TWO digital, but the Nations can.
