Has Anyone noticed how newsrooms get dirty very easily, such as scratches and general wear and tear such as simple dirt! Look at this News 24 Picture:

That Was Before the relauch was on air.
Cant find a picture of a recent shot that would prove it got quite dirt.

One noticeable change was the old ITV Newsroom.

This was the 1st newsroom. As you can see, the floor was quite shiney.

Before the revamp, it was not as clean!

Why dont the BBC/ITV clean their newsrooms or try to prevent all this happening as it doesnt look great!

Well I know that BBC World's newsroom and set isn't in mint condition anymore. It looks fine on screen, but when you get up to the red paint (i.e. on the "stripes" behind the presenter (which are actually columns containing monitors at the entrance to the gallery), it's chipped and scratched. I hear there may be a few changes later in the year, so let's hope it gets a lick of paint!

Wouldn't News At Ten use a darker floor anyway like how the Ten O'Clock News uses darker lighting and reds on the panels?

Yes, it does look like the studio is lit differently for the news at ten.

I have also noticed from time to time that ITV News studio has some scratches on the glass bit of the desk.
And N24 projection screens dont help much as they look 'misty'
bit like some of the more cheaper projection systems youll find in many pubs!!
(i imagine they will sort this soon, as the screen for the stand-up area looks a lot sharper)

They will be fixing the projection screens shortly, I'm told.

Most TV sets are grubby, if you walk up to them you can see how dirty and worn they look.....but once the lights are on it isn't noticable.

You can get away with a lot with lighting

Like others have said, the studio floor in the second shot is simply not lit, whereas it is in the first. You can tell this as you can clearly see a lamp lighting Trevor which also illuminates the floor behind him. It's an interesting point that set designers will have to be much more scrupulous in the design and construction of sets if and when HD television comes along. You won't be able to hide dirt and scratches with clever lighting as easily then!

May i ask what HD Television is. I don't know and don't want to embarrass myself by guessing.

Just to say (as nobody would care) that when i was im the Bungalow with Dick & Dom, the mess of the place. They didnt clean up the creamy muk-muk and where Dot Cotton's Picture got sick, was clearly visiable on the yelllow wall. The Place was a total mess. BRILLIANT!! Very Happy
