I think Lunchtime News viewers will miss Nick Owen's adlibbing throughout the bulletin, he's made it his own. I'd rather see Katie getting 10.30, she seems to be the main cover for Trevor.
Nicholas Owen ad-libs on the flagship evening news bulletins as well but not as much as the Lunchtime News. I agree that the Lunchtime News should have two presenters. I think the rota should be:
2230: Trevor McDonald. On Trevor's days off - Mark Austin, Alastair Stewart
1830: Bill Neely and Angela Rippon. On their days off: Mary Nightingale, Katie Derham, Carol Barnes and James Mates, Chris Rogers & Mark Webster
1230: Nicholas Owen and presenters vary Just like News At Ten from the Alastair Burnet era from 1967-1991
0530: Felicity Barr and on her days off: Lloyd Bracey, Owen Thomas, Sasha Herriman, Romilly Weeks [if she must be a newscaster] and John Draper.

And, boot out the regional news from the ITV National News e.g. lunchtime local news: 12.20pm-12.30pm; 5.30pm-6.30pm & 11.00pm-11.05pm.
How about that for a schedule.

This is for when Trevor does eventually retire.

ITV Morning News - Joyce Ohajah ( John Draper )

ITV Lunchtime News - James Mates and Leyla Daybelge ( Nicholas Owen and Felicity Barr )

ITV Evening News - Mark Austin and Mary Nightingale ( Bill Neely and Andrea Catherwood )

ITV News at Ten Thirty - Nicholas Owen ( Katie Derham )

ITV Weekend News - Owen Thomas, Shiulie Ghosh, Steve Scott, Angela Rippon

The idea of having Anglea Rippon is quite good. She could present the Saturday edition of ' Live with .... ' , and on a Sunday that same programme could be presented by Carol Barnes. Then on a Sunday night there could be a News at Ten, a flagship programme looking into one story very closely, but still covering other news, the programme being 1 hour. It would be similar to the BBC having the news and then Panorama, but instead the two could be combined into one programme.

As someone else said, get rid of the ITV regional news within the main programmes. 12.20 - 12.30, 17.30 - 18.00, and 2300 - 2310. I think the Evening News should become one hour, allowing a special segment dedicated to world news, business, sport etc.

I prefer the news all into half an hour, I cant stand hours of News at a time, theres too much as it is now!

CNN International London broadcasts from Grays Inn Road. CNN used to use ITN's UK reports all the time, but they have beefed up their UK coverage. For example, Robin Oakley covers the political scene, where formally they would have used ITN reports.
Actually, it broadcasts from Great Marlborough Street<just south of Oxford Street>(they used to broadcast from Rathbone place). I do agree they have better UK coverage though

I think the Evening News should be come 2.5 hours, from 6pm - 830pm and there should be a new programme called News at 8.30pm, which is also 2.5 hours long lasting from 8.30pm - 11pm. I say Weekend Bulletins all be lengthened to 2 hours. All bulletins should have dedicated sections to Technology news, Mongolian news and gardening news. Sunday night should be newsnight, with a special bulletin from 5:30pm - 11:30pm looking at one story for the first half of the programme, then business news for the second half.

The presenters?

News at 12:30 - John Irvine (fill in Nicholas Owen)
Evening News - Alex Thomas and Romilly Weeks (fill in Jeremy Batstone and Clare Short)
News at 8:30pm - Angela Rippon and Owen Thomas (Fill in Alastair Burnett and The Queen)
Weekend Bulletins - Mary Nightingale/Jason Farrell/Rachel McTavish (Fill in Mark Austin)
Sunday Newsnight - James Whittaker and Fern Britton (fill in Katie Derham)

There should also be live news from 11:30pm - 11:30am every day presented by Trevor McDonald and Anna Maria Ashe, and at weekends Ahmed from Big Brother and Marie Ashby. (Fill ins Michael Winner and Cherie Blair)

On a more serious note, when Trevor McDonald retires, I think that...

Lunchtime News: Katie Derham
Evening News: Mark Austin and Mary Nightingale
News at 10:30: Nicholas Owen
Weekend News: Andrea Catherwood
London Tonight: Alastiar Stewart and Lucy Alexander
ITVNC Breakfast: Andrew Harvey and Leyla Daybelge
ITVNC Daytime: Chris Rogers (bit of Lucy Alexander)
ITVNC Evening: Felicity Barr and Steve Scott
ITVNC Nightime: Joyce Ohajah and Rachel McTavish
ITVNC Weekends: Lloyd and Sasha, Angela Rippon, Owen and Heather, Nick and Jonathan Wills, John Nicholson/Jonathan Morrell and Lauren.

Seems to be an all irish affair on the Evening News. Where have Mark and Mary gone?

At this time of year often people go one what is usual refered to as a holiday.

Anyway, why would Angela Rippon at her time of life want to go back 20 years and read a standard bulletin again, what would she gain from that.

Fern Britton and Phillip Schofield would be best, turning news into entertainment!

As his directly following post says "On a more serious note..." one would assume that, yes, he was indeed joking. Or maybe not.
