Well nice to see Trevor back on the 10.30 tonight, but his voice doesn't sound well at all!

Let's hope he doesn't do an Anna Ford! Laughing

Yes, sounds like he's got a cold! Also note how he looked around the studio during the end of the bulletin, as if something was going on - or waiting until the show was over and done with and he could drink his polystyrene cup of water. Hmm.

Yes, I was thinking he might do an Anna Ford too! It was strange, as he sounded perfectly alright last night, and he sounded pretty awful to begin with tonight. His voice did seem to improve a little towards the end of the bulletin though.

There must be a few colds going about - Martine Dennis was suffering from one yesterday on BBC World, and she was replaced today.

Has anyone else seen John Pilger in the studio talking about his TV shows as an advertisement? No Alastair as well! It was John "GMTV" Stapleton!

Yes, I think there are two versions of Pilger's promo aren't there? The one with him in the studio, and the one where he's just voicing over numerous pictures from the documentaries. Either way, I'm looking forward to the phone-ins which will follow a couple of the programmes.

How about this for the ITN News At Ten, not ITV News At Ten, returning to the ITV1 schedule is by moving the watershed to 8pm and put all the sex and language and violence to 9pm if it is that vicious?
Btw, I request that if News At Ten, it has to be ITN because I think it works like this - the more viewers, the more money it makes, probably anyway.
How about that, then or is it rubbish?

Fancy that- I have reliable evidence that Alastair Burnet's real name is not Alastair but William James Alexander Burnet [his full real name].

I too would herald the return of News at Ten, but it is highly unlikely. If it did return it would have to a full half hour of news (more world news), and leave this obsession of including regional news within the programme out.

Exclamation ITV really have to get their act together.

On Sunday morning ITV-2 carry the "Sunday Programme" (0730-0930). ITV-NC have "Live with Angela Rippon" (0800-1100). Both shows have similar scope and carry similar material, neither seems to be live.

This morning (11th) both were interviewing Dr John Reid at the same time, on the same subject with the same brief. Both seemed to be asking the same (or very similar) questions, both were letting the Minster pass-off responsibility (MRSA) onto the CMO and the Health Protection Agency.

Confused: What's the point of ITV channels competing against each other, when at that time Frost and Boulton should be the targets?

If ITV is at all serious about this they need to use their control of GMTV to force proper scheduling. At the very least they need to ensure that if "live" shows are running against each other, they don't interview the same person, at the same time, using the same research.

Is the Sunday Programme the one from the GMTV set?

I think ITV do cover some stories very in-depth on these programmes, but they never do on the ITV1 bulletins. I really think ITV need a drastic overhaul of their journalism if they even want to compete with BBC News - they seem to have given up !
