Is it true about Nick Robinson replacing Andrew Marr?....
I hope Marr stays at the BBC because he and Mardel must be the best Poltical Reporters on the tv at the moment. Everytime I see Robinson, his reports are always.....dare I say, cringeworthy.....

Just wondering if someone could answer some questions please.
On TV-Ark there is a picture of Sally Magnusson in a studio with a sort of plant thing at the bottom (in the background), but there is a latter image with Laurie Mayor with a different coloured background.
When did BBC Breakfast Time get a new background - and was it just a new background, or were other parts of the studio enhanced, such as the desk, sofa, etc.?
And did the title sequence remain the same? Does anyone have a copy of the opening titles going into the updated studio?
Thanks, and I hope someone can help.

In a word, no. It's all wild speculation about a situation which may or may not arise after the next election, which may or may not be held next year.

Regarding the Breakfast Time post about the show in the 80s, from what I reall, the disappearance of the plants and the repainting of part of the set coincided with a move to even more hard news, prior to the launch of Breakfast News. The titles remained the same, but the 'comfy area' (ie a couple of arm chairs) disappeared.

Did the desk change at all?

The titles did change shortly before the birth of Breakfast News:

You got the wrong end of the stick. BBC Breakfast Time relaunced as a news programme in late 1986, complete with desk, and small sofa area - nothing like original BT. I was referring to BT news-era 1986-1989.

The actual desk didn't change at all. When the show relaunched in this format it had a brownish colour to the front of the desk, to match the brownish bit the plants were in below the backdrop. I have a feeling that the front of the desk might have been given a blue paint job to match the changes made to the back of the set.
