Where did they recording Win-Lose or Draw? Part of studio A or have they squeezed that into Studio B?

I thought that Angus usually took a feed from Durris - the last time Durris went off completely due to a fault, Angus was left with a black screen on ITV1 and C4.

AFAIK the problem is also present during the ads, that would suggest a problem with the final output rather than the feed.

Studio A hasn't been *completely* mothballed just yet. I was speaking with a set designer who was doing corporate programmes for a bank in there just recently, with more programmes to come.

I think on Grampian (certainly originally before the SMG takeover), it took a SHF feed from Durris and used Durris rebroadcast as a backup.

Related to this, I asked about the great Durris outage in the early 80's(out for six weeks) on a newsgroup. Angus had to have a temporary link rented from Aberdeen to Angus and the BBC dropped back to a Craigkelly for a feed.

A particularly bad example of the generic trails this evening. In their new bid to cross-promote ITV2, we ended up with a situation where the Germany v Czech Republic game was on some channel with four blue squares and the other game clearly available on ITV2. The channel's identity is a complete mess - they didn't even bother with a 'on this channel' announcement.

The picture quality on Grampian from Angus transmitter (analogue) has been awful for about a week now.

There has been varying amounts of ghosting. At the moment it looks like a VHS recording. - the other channels are fine. A relative of mine is experiencing exactly the same problem.

I wonder if it's on it's rebroadcast feed from Durris for some reason.

I was watching grampian and just before 9:25am, the "Transmitter infomation" caption came up and a pre-recorded announcment saying basicly saying, viewers receiving angus and its dependents will be on reduced power today due to 'Essential' engineering work.

So that maybe the reason why you have been experiencing bad quality reception.

Yes it must be very difficult to make separate STV and Grampian trails these days! Rolling Eyes

Nothing to separate - they are both the same trails running on both channels at the same time.

Grampian and Scottish have won a non-exclusive SPL highlights package, for a four year period. The new show will air at 11 p.m. on a Monday, starting on August 9.

Is it just me or has Scottish TV broken a broadcasting rule by showing a Des Lynam ident before football with ... um... Des Lynam. I'm pretty sure I remember seeing that somewhere. If the broadcasters were permitted to do that, surely they'd do it most of the time,

Regarding the highlights package - two days after the games? Shocked That's a bit of a mess, isn't it? Look forward to more camcorder-esque footage and commentary from a Jonathan Pearce-wannabe. Hopefully it won't result in them ditching Scotsport's more public service related programming (junior and first division football and rugby. Well OK maybe we could live without rugby)

Setanta have exclusive rights to SPL live action and highlights for a 24 hour period from 3 p.m. on a Sunday. Therefore, STV cannot broadcast anything before 3 p.m. on a Monday. I am sure there will be a brief package in the regional news at 6 p.m. on a Monday.
Setanta have also secured the services of Rob Maclean from the BBC to anchor the Sunday show, and they will also be using STV facilities to broadcast their live coverage.Ah ! that explains why Setanta were backing the STV highlights bid.
