I like these, only comments are that the astons are a bit too close to the bottom of the 4:3 safe area for my liking - many tellys underscan a bit - and I'm not convinced that the black background is right for the breakfast logo

Great effort though

Another mock for daytime bulletins, and short unscheduled news reports (i.e. for a report in between programmes for something like the death of Reagan - not important enough for N24 to break into the schedule but important enough for a report between programmes)

The titles would simply be a the end image of the globe from the main titles. "|B| |B| |C| NEWS" could be replaced with "NEWS REPORT" where appropriate

The studio:

Just a simple glass panel in the newsroom really, just there to conform with the corporate look. Newsreader may as well stand up ((s)he's only there for 2 minutes!)

And now for News 24 (World would look similar).

I'd use the national News titles (but not the BH bit or the headline stings) for the titles. Of course, "|B| |B| |C| NEWS would be replaced with "|B| |B| |C| NEWS 24".

Like Breakfast, I think the studio works quite well, so just a colour change again

Similar clock to Breakfast, except this time with a BBC dog. The live bug covers this up when used, but I don't think thats so much of a problem

No insets on News 24, instead a three line strap is used where appropriate:

The breaking news strap would be big and bold. The lower line could either function as a ticker, or as a line of information like now.

Here is a ticker to be used on the quarter hour if News 24 is in a programme

Here is the graphic for two video feeds. The "live" bug refers to the main feed. I don't think a live bug is necessary for the other window.

And the countdown/breakbumper. News 24 and world will show their trailers in the window (like on Worlds breakbumper). As the countdown nears zero the window will show some people shots or something, so you don't get trailers being cut off.

The information panel can show various things - events happening today (as illustrated), schedule information, plugs for bbc.co.uk, whatever.

What would BBC World look like with this look and will it go full 16:9 but with 4:3 safe areas for graphics?

News bulletins would look the same as BBC News 24.

As for channel presentation, I'll have a go at that.

As for 16:9 - I don't know. I don't know enough about 16:9 uptake in Worlds markets etc. I would design everything to work in 16:9 if necessary though.

But first...

An example regional news programme with this look.

The idea is a "soft" corporate look, so that regional programmes maintain identity, yet still look similar to BBC News bulletins.

Here I've used Reporting Scotland as an example. I don't intend to show how Reporting Scotland would look - rather I want to show the idea of how the soft corporate look may look. I think it looks closer to the national bulletins that I would have liked, but here goes....

The opening titles would always start with the view of the globe

We'd zoom in on the UK, with everywhere not in the region fading away.

This is where titles would become different for each region.

In this instance, we'd pan away from the UK into the Atlantic.

Two BBC SCOTLAND ribbons would cross the screen...

...forming the Saltire....

http://www.rp-networkservices.com/tvforum/uploads/repscot6_copy1.jpg

...half of which would scroll off as ribbons, the other half would shrink and triplicate...

...to form the end of the titles.

The studio would be similar to the national news studio, except with a backdrop of the regions choice (newsroom, skyline... something like that).

I quite like them - very similar to the 1998-2000 titles though. I like how the old RS logo has reappeared, althought it is now used as the logo for BBC Radio Scotland.

This was my inspiration. But as I said - this mock was to show how a soft corporate look for regional news might be done.

More of a concept mock than an actual mock Wink

I've done an audio mock to illustrate how the opening for the national news would work. The longer thunderclaps are used where the next headline is of a different subject, so the headline stings (see the first post) are used. The shorter one is used to split key points in a main story.

I love the set up and idea but I just think the blue makes it look cold and like Lambie-Nairn design, think that the red would suit more and be warmer. Still, great!
