I think the Lunchtime News could do with a total make-over. Perhaps, and I realise it's very Sky News Today, but a double presentation format with it being presented from around the ITV Newsroom, obviously with a little bit of generic colour. And it would get them out of the news studio, which gets a bit dull after a while.
I flicked over to Scottish TV during This Morning, when I noticed that the picture froze during the ITV Lunchtime News titles. It cut to the ITN Production cap, then switched to a VT clock! After 5 mins this apology caption came up, and stayed on-screen until around 12:40 when it suddenly cut back into Katie Derham mid-sentence. Anyone else had any problems? I noticed that during the Scotland Today opt-out that the newsreader looked off-screen to the left a couple of times when some sort of a rattling noise happened. When it went back to Katie Derham, she seemed to just stand there, flicking through her script and messing with her hair. Someone shouted out "You're on in 5 seconds Katie" or something like that. Perhaps STV threw back to ITV news a bit too early?

I think that programme's fine and suits it's timeslot perfectly. It probably lasts for 20 minutes in total therefore rendering a Sky News Today format pretty inconceivable surely? Especially as it would look out of place when considering the other bulletins and the NC.
Just a question on ITV's D-Day coverage - I presume most parts of ITV1's coverage will be simulcast on the NC?
Did Angela mention anything about her programme coming from France next weekend?
She had previously hinted at it, but I was away this weekend and didn't see the show.
Not on Sunday when I was watching, no. But then I didn't watch all of Saturday's show, so she may have said something then.

itv news need to update their website as under reporters it still has John Sergeant as it says below
John Sergeant joined ITV News in March 2000 as political editor. He is to retire shortly and will be replaced by Nick Robinson.
how long has nick robison been political editor now? It seems quite a while
I notice that the regional news was earlier tonight to accommodate the 'and finally' D-Day item between the headline recap and the newspaper front pages.
I wondered what he was doing on there, I thought they usually have John Nicholson when Alastair's off, but he must be off too.
Though I thought he was quite good today, I only saw it at around 11.30am, I wonder if this is a one off or if we will see more of him on the NC.
I think that John Stapleton may make more appearances on the News Channel, filling in for Alastair, as GMTV as a whole is becoming more integrated with the ITV News Channel, this morning they have gone live to a few GMTV correspondents including Jonathan Swain and Richard Gaisford.
John seemed pretty good, although it appeared that perhaps he hadn't had much time to familiarize himself with the set and the titles.
Also, is it just me or does Andrew Harvey sometimes seem to not enjoy working with Lucy Alexander? Whilst he has a professional relationship with her and they banter, I just seem to find that she irritates him slightly.
