Yeah, I saw it in the mid ad-break for Distraction. Looks cool. Saw a bit of green I think...

Did anybody see the shots of the new house before Derren Brown? Quite quick, and covered by those grey moving lines, but as far as I can see, the house looks cool.

Very good ad - and if it's a bit too quick to give you a good view, look at these stills from http://www.moonbay.co.uk

Big Brother 5: All clues lead to Brazil
So Big Brother 5 will be "Cruel and Nasty" according to the exec producer. Davina says it will be very different, while news from the house suggests a completly different layout. Could this be the biggest clue to the new format?
The new Big Brother house has one main bedroom, with a second bedroom, dubbed the Romp Room, behind it. Why else would they have the second bedroom - Big Brother UK is to get a Head of House.
They tried it once last year, let viewers see the US version of the show and know Big Brother needs to change after the disapointment of Big Brother 4 going back to basics - but it'll be the Brazilian format which is most likely to hit our screens.
This is how it works:
Each week housemates compete to become the Head of House. (The live Saturday task show is said to be returning this year)
The Head of House chooses ONE person who automatically is nominated for eviction.
The other housemates then secretly vote for ONE further housemate to leave, with the housemate with the most votes (any tie is broken by the Head of House) becoming the second nominee. Discussion of nominations is allowed.
The public then vote which of the two nominees are evicted.
Housemates also face weekly challenges for food and luxuries, while viewers could vote to give housemates additional rewards such as letters from home in Big Boss (as with America's Choice).
It's a compromise between the traditional Big Brother format and the more competitive elements of the American version, keeping some kind of nomination process but adding the twist of the Head of House. It worked very well in Brazil with ratings holding on previous years.
All rumours and news on Big Brother 5 suggest this format is possible, although I know from previous years to "Expect the Expected". However, if BBUK is to ever have a major change in it's format, I think now is as good a time as any.

Here is what the TV times says:
10.00 Big Brother
Davina McCall presents a special live show to launch the fifth series of Big Brother. Before the 12 housemates move in, Davina gives a tour of the new house and explains the new rules. She then greets each of the housemates as they arrive.
Firstly, Davina has never greeted the housemates before upon arrival. In the past, the first time a housemate meets Davina is when the are evicted.
Secondly, New Rules - re-enforcing my suspicions in the previous post.
Finally, Davina's thoughts: "I would be so angry if someone else was presenting Big Brother, because it's mine and no one else is allowed it! I love this programme".

Hmmm, as long as she doesn't pop up on a video screen in the house every eviction night and chat away to the contestants about how they are feeling, etc. I've seen that on the Aussie BB and it spoils the idea of no contact with the outside world.

Just a few things as Black Friday looms...
A series of new ads saying "Big Brother turns Evil", including skateboarding Rabbi's and bondage and whips, plus a more straight forward one featuring the Big Brother house and Marcus telling us "A 10 week Summer Holiday - not this time!".
Teletext on 4 now has a Big Brother section from page 444. It's schedule says the show will begin at 10pm next Friday, then air 9pm on Sunday and 10pm weeknights. The first eviction show on Friday moves to a post-watershed slot of 9pm, so hopefully this time LIVE means LIVE. Also, there will be a live task on the first Saturday at 9.10pm.
BBLB starts on the Monday at 6pm, with BB's E-Forum on E4 at 7pm Mon/Wed/Fri, repeated on C4 (annoyingly pushing back live streaming a further half-hour). Diary Room Uncut airs on E4 every Tuesday and Thursday.
