Apparently the normal tower dog rotated in behind this red thing, and apparently it's still there. Weird! Perhaps some kind of maintenance?
I've never seen that used on BBC World (on the European feed at least). When TOG breaks down, they usually put up a static version of the normal tower, not the one shown in your clip. Could it be that the unusual tower was added by the local operators in North America?
Well it looks as if when BBC America/PBS or other american channels take the BBC World News feed (unclean from BBC World) the BBC World dog is there... and have to shove that box there so viewers don't see the BBC World dog.
It's like when BBC America put a black BBC America box in front of the BBC World dog.

That sounds about right... I myself have never seen that on BBC World.

That's the first time I've seen something like that ... BBC America hasn't been covering up the tower with anything the last time I checked, and PBS does the same. It could be new ... I'll try and check tomorrow (Monday) and find out.
weird. since the introduction of the new dog from BBC World, BBC America simply removes its top left-hand logo because I dont think they want to cover it.
Dog's of PBS stations are usually placed on the bottom right, so they dont interfere. maybe its new, not sure. ill check tonight.

wouldn't they affect the astons though or does the 14:9 shove it further up?
Seeing that big |B|B|C| logo reminds me that I've always though the logo on N24's tower is a bit small and why the gap above the clock? I think the alternative below would be better...
I was given the impression this wasn't from BBC America but from BBC World (NA).
Don't hold me to this, but I don't think BBC World as a standalone channel is broadcasting in the US yet. The reasoning behind the London/Washington co-pres between 2002 and 2003 was to secure a US deal to show BBC World permanently. The co-pres ceased last August, and I thought they were in the process of securing a deal. BBC World News is taken by both BBC America and PBS stations across the USA. It's probable that the capture was taken from a PBS channel. The idea of obscuring the World tower in the USA is because when you're watching it on BBC America or PBS, you're not actually watching BBC World the channel, rather you're watching BBC World News - so to have a World channel tower showing is midleading to some extent.
