You might have to wait until the move is finished.

When's that, next year? Confused

The move will be done when it's done and that's all I'm saying Wink

Forgive my ignorance

Are you talking about the move to the new grpahics system or the move to a new building?

This opener was somewhat confusing.

The TOTH titles were the old ones, with no changes to the headline sequence, then the sting into the two presenter shot was new...

IIRC the 6am TOTH titles are played out by TX, to provide five with a clean opt-in to Sunrise, so it looks like TX were not given the new titles.
So who do they give a clean opt-in to at midnight I notice the TOTH ident just freezes at 00:00 every night just before headlines, as if someone else is opting in. Could it be SN Aus?

AIUI, it's to allow them to record the bulletin so they can replay it overnight, if necessary...

Mick does not know when the move is going to be taking place, he is just being his usual t!t-esq self.

It is scheduled to be done by the start of next year - i.e. January - when Sky start producing Five's news bulletins.

Well I'd imagine the architects have only just started with their plans - so if Mick knows the move in date, he's an amazing person.

Like the new graphics for the most part - although wonder why, at the start of the new ident, the animation seems to start about two or three seconds before the music kicks in... That the astons have been reduced in size is certainly an improvement, they do some nice animating as well now.

The static ticker is a waste of space. Most viewers know Sky News' email address. And why does there need to be a reminder of Sky News Active at the bottom of the screen? Do people with Sky Digital now get two continous on-screen reminders of Sky Active (I know there certainly used to be a software-generated "ACTIVE" bug in the top-right corner on Sky Digital systems - we don't have this on cable). That smacks of overkill IMO. Either they use a permanent ticker or get rid of this. Its basically the world's biggest DOG at the moment.

The animation on the TOTH ident has always had a couple of seconds of silent animation before the music starts - presumably this is to allow for ad breaks not being *quite* the right length, and so the programme can always start at the right time.

Am I the only one who thinks that all the astons and the ticker being in CAPITALS makes it unnecessarily hard to read?

You're not the only one. I think it makes it all look a bit shoutey, rather like when you get someone on here who can only type in caps.

I know they're trying to grab our attention, but having everything in caps just means nothing on screen has priority over anything else, so you don't know where to look first... especially as the slug text is now the same size as the text to the right of it.

Have noticed that they've dropped the "fade and slide" text animation on the info straps. It's now back to the old style of animation. Looks a lot better.

Still want the blue back though. Looks poo with white all the time. And especially because they aren't transparent either!

This always amazes me......

Sky News have (allegedly) been looking at a graphics tweak for about 3 months now..... You would assume therefore that they had taken a lot of time to plan and test the new graphics - how they play out, how they interact together on-screen, the overall onscreen "look" for each shot, be it main desk, newswall, split screen etc etc. So then after less than 48 hours "on air" they change the text animation back to the old style ?

What does this tell us ? Have Sky News just cobbled together this graphics tweak because of the move to the new studios (and the assumed new on screen look) in less than 9 months time, or are they actually responding to initial feedback from some kind of viewing panel ?

Did BBC News 24 change any of its radically alterered new graphics so early into their run ???
