Special titles for the Iraq Special.

Sounds like a pretty serious programme from the running order. I hope the News Channel does more of this kind of thing.

According to the ticker the programme is 45 minutes long

It was an excellent programme, in my opinion. There was a good selection of relevant guests, lots of discussion, debate and analysis, there was also presentations from Chris Rogers at the wall.
It was also good that they changed the background, ran different titles and used different music throughout to make it seem like a special programme. More of these would indeed be excellent, though I guess having Alastair Stewart present it wouldn't always be possible, which is a shame.
The promotion was also good, with Mark and Mary giving the programme, and Alastair, a mention.

Pity they cannot put the analysis into ITV 1 bulletins!

Well they can't exactly put an hour's analysis in Iraq into a 30 minute news bulletin can they? In my opinion there is lots of analysis in ITV News and BBC News and ITV News doesn't really need any more. I mean, why did the Evening News at 6:30 win the RTS award?

Because of it's presentation with Mark Austin in Iraq last year. But then there was the News at Nine and another 15 minute bulletin at about 11, so there was time for more news, but now they do not have as much time to present, thats why I think they need to watch out for what stories they cover. If News at Ten Thirty is aimed at older men, I really don't think David Beckhams sex life will interest them!

Not strictly true actually.

The programme improved ten-fold, both in terms of ratings and editorial stance (since the appointment of David Mannion). Prior to that, it was an uninspiring effort with an increase in showbiz and fluffy stories, something which gave ITV News a reputation which only now it is starting to recover.

No doubt the Iraq War went a huge way to getting the recognition and the RTS award, but it's unfair to assume that that was the ONLY reason.

If you want in depth analysis and interviews, there's always Newsnight on the other side. Wink

Yes - the ITV London News studio is used every weekday on the News Channel 1145-1230 and 2130-2230 whilst the main set is needed for ITV1 bulletin rehearsals

Watching this itv news channel - not alot has changed really it's just like the itn news channel - heres a report about this then heres another report about this - all a bit boring aint it... one fixed camera on the one presenter and repeats of reports already shown - how on earth can it compete with sky news/news 24 i dont know! Maybe im watching at the wrong time.....
