It must be hard for the newscaster to look at the right side to talk to the people that there talking to.
Well the images that we see at home are actually projected onto the green canvas and so the presenters can see a faint images of what is happenning and whom they are talking to!
Its just all different shades of that green you can see in the images.

And apparently, there are huge rig mirrors in and around the set, so the newsreader knows where to stand and point etc.

The mirrors aren't there for the presenters; they are behind the set and are used to bounce the projected images to create a longer throw (i.e. a larger image). This is mainly to do with leaving enough space behind the set for evacuation routes in case of fire. The presenter can see the faint images on the screen, and otherwise use monitors when not looking directly at the screen behind or to the sides of them.

It is a totally fab set up though. I watch more ITV news now than I ever have. I really am that shallow.
When Trevor is conducting an interview you can tell he looks at the monitor, because his head is not looking in the same direction with regard to the position if the interviewee on the screen.
Oh I see he look at the TV in front of him and they display the image on the green screen as well
Got It
Does anyone remember the old ITV News set
Did they Use the green screen on that too?
I think that it was a real screen. Does anyone know what will go in that studio, then when five News leaves there will be a few empty studios.
Next time ITV News relaunches I don't see why the NC can't get a studio of its own. When ITV3 launches, it was said to get its own news service, I suppose it will take up one of the spare studios.
Is the five News studio actually in the newsroom or what ?
