I saw it earlier tonight and I have to say it is probably the best ITV News promo I have seen so far, the good thing about it is that it is so simple, it is just plain text which clips of major events like 9/11. With things on screen like 'We've been there'
It's nice to see an ITV News promo which isn't full of celebs and presenters, it's very good.
An idea. Weekday bulletins can be simulcast on the NC because of their regular start time, so the main studio can be used. How about weekend bulletins coming from the London Studio because of their start times, and the NC can use the main studio with their own schedule?
As said above here, the CSO studio would work alot better with 2 shots, like Central News. Then they could have the standard shot, plus a wide shot for interviews on the screen, with any guests normally in the studio sent to the newsroom.
The ITV NC isn't easy to schedule, but I'd say just use the London set for the breakfast programming, as it does have the right feel for that.
Daytime would be dual anchored, with primetime looking like this:
5.35 World Weather
5.45 Sport Report with Felicity Barr (CSO)
6.00 ITV News with Felicity Barr (CSO)
or Regional News programmes for additional coverage of a story
(e.g. Last week Central News had very good coverage of the Tipton 3)
6.30 ITV News with Mark Austin and Mary Nightingale
7.00 ITV News Extra inc Business, Sport, Entertainment, Politics
8.00 ITV News
8.30 ITV News Network with Felicity Barr
9.00 ITV News (World News)
9.35 World Weather
9.45 Sport Report with Felicity Barr (CSO)
10.00 ITV News (CSO)
10.30 ITV News with Trevor McDonald
11.00 ITV News Extra inc review of tomorrow's papers
12.00 ITV News
12.30 ITV News Network (rpt)
Then throughtout the night:
1.00 ITV News
1.30 Regional News Programmes (taken from the 10.30pm ITV News)
4.00 ITV News
4.30 NBC News
5.00 ITV News Network (rpt)
The ITV NC isn't easy to schedule, but I'd say just use the London set for the breakfast programming, as it does have the right feel for that.
But the London set is used at 7:05 and 8:05 so that wouldn't be possible! I think the main set is needed for the breakfast programme and suits it, what with all the resources it has.
couldnt ITV News just digitally rebuild its new studio on computer, and use the old virtual studio, opposite the old ITV News studio? Because they can use moving camera angles in their cant they and that, so I think that would be a cheaper and a better way of doing it. They can just make a design of the current studio on a computer. Doesnt matter if it doesnt look completley real, aslong as they can still operate to a certain standard!

The old Virtual Studio is the current main ITV News studio, unless they have moved the set since it launched.
I haven't seen much of the NC this morning, but there weren't any lives or new packages from Bill or Harry in Madrid that I've seen. Angela had the usual set of rent-a-quote terrorism experts in the studio and on the line to discuss the implications though.
They did send Ruth Hockey to Buckingham Palace for the playing of the Spanish national anthem at the changing of the guard, and Angus Walker is doing lives from the Labour spring conference in Manchester
