Something that's been bugging me...

For the last two nights, there's been breaking news at about 23.45 (first the Lords Vote, then the Guantanamo Release). 23.45 is halfway through HARDtalk. On both occasions, they've put a breaking news strap over HARDtalk, but then just left it there for the rest of the programme. No interruption, no details, no announcement. Now this might seem a little odd, but I wouldn't really mind if they then cut straight to the studio at the end of the programme. But on BOTH occassions, they've ended the programme, gone to weather, trailers, coundown, the full TOTH sequence, and then eventually got to the Breaking News. This seems completely absurd. If they stick up Breaking News and a one-line summary, then expect me to hang around for twenty minutes to get the details...well, it seems unlikely, most people would surely just flick to another channel?

Is it only me who wishes that N24 would go back to 2-line information graphics? You could fit a hell of a lot more information on them, which is kind of the point; and we don't need the headline in letters that big, either.

I would have agreed just after the relaunch, but I've got used to them now, and it would seem strange to have a small title again and more information. They're doing a good job at fitting the info into the astons, given that it must be difficult to fit it into a limited number of characters.

I prefer the big astons. They grab your attention when your not looking at the screen.

Similar although not exactly the same...

2254 or thereabouts, news has broken that the 3 footballers have been released on bail. Business Today, and therefore the News 24 studio being used. Banner on screen but no announcement. The banner gets taken down for 3/4 minutes before TOTH, and with 2300 being a World/N24 simulcast, nothing about the recent news break.....

But that's probably not considered as being major news in the light of the blasts in Madrid. Most other stories today have hardly had a look-in, so they did pretty well to flag it up for a bit when it actually broke, considering they had the joint special at 23.00.

True enough, and yes I suppose today has been a particularly big/busy news day in that respect.

Law of sod though, an update to the Leicester story has broken during the 2330 HardTalk. From flicking, only News 24 seems to have this (can't say this is too suprising these days to be honest,. it seems to be becoming more and more common in recent months ), but it probably doesn't take a great guess as to how this is being handled....

The headlines titles text just juddered sharply twice at the TOTH. It really did look quite bad.

As for the info astons; fair enough about liking the big headlines; there's just not enough info text for me, though.
