I've asked before but this thread might bring a response - Is there a wedsite anywhere which explains this technology in some detail?

There's a shop on Lincoln High Street which uses screen that look very similar to those in the News 24 studio, and those are rear-projected.

if it's the same technology I'm familier with then they are projected from quite a long way behind. The image is purposely distorted so that it looks correct when seen from the other side of the glass which means that the projector can be quite high and therefore not disturbed by any passers by

The area from the beam to the projector is actually got a barrier around it so there is no opportunity to walk in and foul the beam. The projection screens are not holoscreens and are just treated tempered glass or perspex screens.

If you want holo-screens the Sport Today set has one.
