Just wondering, I read on this forum some time ago, that Bill & Sian replaced Daren Jordan and Sarah Montague. But on some sites I have seen Sian with Daren on Breakfast. Was Sian drafted in after that incident in which Sarah swore - or was she just too rubbish for Brekkie? Was Darren Jordan then shipped off to the 1, before Bill became the full-timesecond presenter.

You are correct. I can't really remember Sarah on Breakfast for a long period of time.

Yeah, it wasn't an instant change, it kind of evolved really - Darren and Sarah were the main Friday and weekend presenters, under Jeremy and Sophie. Sarah was then phased out and Sian was drafted in to present with Darren, and eventually, Darren moved to the One permanently, and Bill moved from News 24 permanently a short time later.
I really liked Breakfast in those days (2000-2002), not only because the combinations of presenters were good, but also the agenda of the programme was better than it is currently. For instance, there used to be headline checks every 15 minutes. Now, we have coming up checks instead. It was great when you could get a proper news briefing in the morning, and if you wanted lighter items, you could flick over to GMTV. Breakfast now does about 15 minutes proper news, then goes into 'fluffy' mode.

Was the reason that Sarah was phased out because she swore or was there anothr reason :

I don't know the actual reason, but the swearing on air (although you couldn't actually hear anything IIRC, I think she was just mouthing it) might have had a part to play, and she wasn't really suited to the programme - she was a bit wooden; Sian is much more suited to the programme.
I was just wondering, how many hours are newsreaders allowed to work, because Bill was doing Breakfast this morning, which means he would have been in to work at about 5:00, and he was on the Six tonight, which means he has been at TV Centre for 13 hours - 14 by the time the Six had finished. Are newsreaders not covered by time limits in the same way that actors are, because they are not working all day, ie, Bill finished broadcasting work at 9:30, and he then was off air until 18:00.

Split shifts are quite common in radio, particularly local. Often breakfast and drivetime might share the same travel presenter/reporter for example. I'd guess Bill did Breakfast then went home and came back.

Which is precisely why some of us question the logic of News 24 and Breakfast simulcasting for the full 3 hours between 6-9am...

I imagine Bill is being heftily remunerated for his efforts (he seems to work pretty unsociable shifts generally). It's certainly not the first time this has happened anyway, he's done it several times in the past.
I wouldn't imagine he would stay at TV centre from 4am (when he arrived at Breakfast) until 7pm - he was probably allowed to go away between shifts. But it must be an irritating shift pattern to work because it does take up your whole day.
At least Bill has the weekend off now!
And on a more general note, I have really enjoyed Breakfast with Bill & Natasha this week. As well as Bill having brought Natasha out of her shell (she's much wittier when she's working with him) the news coverage seems to have been better than usual.

Yes, I saw them for a short burst on Tuesday, and for then about an hour and a half on Wednesday, and they seemed to work quite well together. It'll be interesting to see how tomorrow's pairing works - Simon McCoy and Jules Botfield.
Any opinions on the new regional Weather opt at the quarter to the hour? I'm surprised no one has mentioned it yet (or perhaps I've missed the thread).
