Jeez yeah - I remember that one too ! And Kay's bright jade "Birthday Suit" !!

The '93 "Multi Channels" logo updates still rank for me as Sky's best and most radical reworking of their on-screen look. They changed everything, on all channels overnight !

Incidentally, on a rather morbid note, my other half has just caught me viewing the old Sky clips and immediately asked if there were any of September the 11th 2001, (ie the moment the news of the planes hitting the towers was announced) either from Sky News or CNN, BBCN24 etc ? Are there any online at all ?

So why has it taken them so long, then, if all it amounts to is "a few minor tweaks"?

I appreciate there is more to it than just going on to the computer and having some fun with the airbrush, but come on...

Who said its taken so long? There's been a hell of a lot of speculation on here about all this for months, but how do we know that the Sky News bosses didn't just decide to have a minor tweak late Feb, allocating staff to work on it from January? Sounds like a plan to me. But I agree with what you said before about their evening lineup- but I think News 24 have got the evening analysis and debate market sealed up now, and I see little chance of Sky being able to match its quality (btw, Littlejohn doesn't amount to analysis and debate- it's more comment and provocation).

Who knows....I know.....lets wait till Monday !

By the way, I must say that Martin has managed to keep *very* restrained over the latest prospect of revised graphics and idents on Sky News....however Id say its a safe bet that he'll be in front of 501 at 6am on Monday ! (Or watch it on DTT cos on it seems to be about half a second in front of DSAT ! lol !)

They do?

As far as I can see, News 24 don't have any thing in the prime time slot that amounts to "analysis".

There's Hard Talk, but that's on at about half past eleven, there's (I think) a very short and very crap business programme, and an even shorter sports programme... I don't think that this seriously amounts to the sorts of genres the US networks are putting out - shows devoted to politics, justice, debate, serious business news, etc.

I know you like News 24, and you know I hate it, but it's just exceptionally wide of the mark to say that News 24 have the prime time analysis slot anywhere near 'sealed up'.

I dont know if sometime you've been over this BUT I was wondering... (here we go)

Is there any possibility that Sky News or any other news channel could start showing more programmes instead of just news?

For example Sky News to launch a second news channel showing more documentaries by reporters, and it's own shows like a British version of Larry King where a presenter introduces a guest who takes calls on a certain subject.

Maybe even comedy like a Bremner, Bird and Fortune type show, even stretching to show a Judge Judy kind of programme - not actually Judge Judy, but something similar.

Is it possible in the future, or is it pure crap and should I just put the thought out of my head this instant?

How depressing - British press sympathizes with Jew-killers - Jerusalem Newswire attacks Emma Hurd's report on Sky News last night

Thoroughly depressing reading.

I do think Sky News generally does cover Israel/Palestine extremely well. It must be very dispiriting for Emma Hurd (and BBC & ITV correspondents) to have their reports picked over and attacked by these obsessive people all the time

Obviously they were not watching The World last night.

They led with this story: Is anti-Semitism on the rise in Europe once more?

Or, more likely did they "forget" to mention that report.

Having shows like that, sort of goes against the whole nature of a 24 hour NEWS channel. And sky do at times approach news reports in a comical way like Blair's hard 48 hours. They got a political cartoonist to illustrate the report.

23rd is when the changes are due to go on air. Tweaks can mean, font changes, location of graphics, colour tweaks, flipping some graphics around. It may only be certain parts of the graphics due to change.
