I just presume that it allows the intro to be timed better, edited better and look more presentable in case of the presenter making a mistake. If you look at how badly sometimes none pre-recorded matter comes out - top of the hours on News 24 and sometimes World - it makes it all a lot more effecient i suppose.
Well it was hardly going to be revolutionary but as a standalone comment I am disappointed. Not because of the wild hype but because the titles are exactly the same as News 24. It was blatantly obvious News 24 and One News were connected during the beige era but the titles were at least different shots of the map etc.. Don't get me wrong - the titles are perfectly nice but the lack of variation just smacks of lack of imagination.
At least the "Flash style" projector graphic has gone though.
Hello, right now I'm watching the six o'clock news... Well, the titles look cery good, I like the red. Though, some reported a change in the headline bed on the one o'clock news... I didn't hear that. Only at the end of the programme there was a different bed. Why don't they use it at the beginning of the programme?!
And what did I saw: there's a upcoming report on The Six about a Dutch solution for the lack of teachers on our secondary schools! Great to see this country (The Netherlands) on the BBC News. But that girl I saw in the headline sequence... O dear: she didn't speak English very well! And that could be an English teacher!
If you don't understand what I mean... watch the report!

I agree completely... and it seems that these titles aren't very dymanic... how could they be made to look different for the regions without looking like just the colours have been altered?
(and I still think its cheap that BBC World use the same animation albeit it in different permutations for it's news programs and it's channel identity)
All-in-all, the new 'branding' is far weaker that LNs concept, is far less flexible and looks very in house...
oh yes very nice, i liked the little wipe effect on the projector too. It's a shame they don't us real closing titles any more. I miss the old studio, the middle one that was all red.
Yup missed that aston there but the ending was good.
Reporting Scotland are still having problems this evening. Playing out the wrong interviews, graphics staying on screen during reports etc. Is this Training Day are Reporting Scotland? Have they let a bunch of rookies loose on the gallery? lol
