bid-up.tv studio recreation (and video)

Many a moon ago, I created a montrosity of a bid-up.tv studio which IIRC was my first 3D studio.
I decided to start again, and make it much, much more accurate. It's by no means perfect but it's a helluva lot better and I do pretty much like how it turned out.
Perhaps the shrewd amongst you may be picking up on some sort of significance in this recreation's timing. Oooooooooo...

Well *SOMEONE* didn't bid at least £10 over the auction arrow when the sarcasm detector (guide price £210) was on sale. You should ALWAYS bid at least £10 above the auction arrow ebcause it can move very fast.

Nice studio, would you not be better to use a graphics program than those ones that plan out your spare room?

Very nice! I know "bidup sim" is a swear word on this forum but I want a straight answer, barney boo are you going to bring the price drop and bidup sims back, ever? I don’t know why you are so embarrassed by them, If I had created something like that id want to show it off. You say you took them down due to lack of interest, well from what ive seen everyone loved em, and the poll on your site shows that most people want them back up. I have the dodgy first addition of the bidup sim, its good but id love to see the updated versions with the bugs fixed, and the price drop sim looks excellent from the pics on your site! Please bring them back!! :

It's just the ragged edges that made me wonder.

Ok, here's some STRAIGHT, HARD, IN YOUR FACE, MEGA TRUE SUPER facts....
the bid-up sim
It came first and started as an afternoon's work. Had huuuge bugs and really sucked but for some reason got a big response, so...
The next day I released a small update which fix...well, didn't fixed...just changed the bugs and introduced a horribly horrible webcam function that just crashed it (v 1.2)
I let it die for a few weeks but then later removed the webcam functionality so that the thing would at least run (occasionally). (v2)
Word "spread" about it and after someone emailed bid-up about it, I started exchanging emails with various people (especially Lee Baldry who gave loads of helpful advice) from bid-up

That was the last update, and it was removed from my server a couple of months ago because I felt truely...guilty for exposing so many to such a bug-ridden, really, really awful piece of poo so abandoned it since...

Shortly before bid-up sim was abandoned, I created a price-drop studio, so decided to make a simulator around it. The coding was a helluva lot easier than bid-up so it was a piece of p*ss to do.
It got absolutely no response which to be perfectly honest really frustrated me.
Despite that, I released a small update to fix a couple of bugs and add some new fuctionality.
Still no response to it, so I pulled both down at that point.

price-drop.tv sim didn't actually have any real bugs in it - so I might re-upload it sometime soon.


As for bid-up V3?
