The opening of the 2230 looks so carefully staged:
Track over desk, MCU Trevor right of frame, videowall left.
Towards end of intro, widen and pan right to reveal live corr on video wall
Trevor throws to live corr with corr's first name
Live corr says "Trevor" and intros vt package
that I wonder if they can conceive of having a lead story in which there isn't a live feed available for the intro. Or does the chosen style of the programme now dictate that the lead story MUST be accompanied by a live talking head on location?
Cue slow dissolve to imaginary Editorial meeting....
Asst Ed: "So, we've got the assassination of President Bush, and we've got the row over childcare funding. Lead on Bush, then the kids?"
Ed: "Hold on, what feeds have we got?"
Asst Ed: "Well, for Bush we've got a really great vt package, including him actually being attacked, but we can't do a live piece with Washington, because the Yanks have killed all the Sat feeds. For childcare, we've got Nick Robinson with his strange glasses, standing outside Number 10."
Ed: "No contest then. It'll have to be Robinson and the kids first, then we'll do the dead Pres"

I don't understand your point. Trevor could easily hand over to a VT from the newswall as he could a live. Anyway, if Bush had been killed, they would no doubt have a live from Robert Moore.

I suppose it's acoluor scheme they use. Ever since it was the ITNNC, Sport has always been green, the Markets have been red etc. Anyway, it does no harm for the NC to be different in these areas.

I don't understand why the News Channel doesn't use the same Sports background and graphics as the ITV1 bulletins. I don't mind the green News Channel sport graphics that much, but the ITV1 ones look absolutely gorgeous.

Now that ITV have sadly lost some of the Football Rights, I wonder if the News At 1030 will be on seven days a week.

I doubt it as that would mean ITV wouldn't be able to show long post-watershed dramas or films on any day of the week. They will no doubt use the Sunday 9-11pm slot to continue to show 2 hour long dramas
