I hope ITV Plc never get there hands on Channel. I am totally against this merger, the same as I have always been against Carlton and Granada owning so many regional licenses.

I always perefered it when you could try and pick up the other regions, to see what they had on and how there presentation compared to your regions.

I remember when I lived in Guernsey and was younger, TSW and HTV were the main ones to pick up, you always knew when HTV was there because Channel 4 West is on the same frequency as Channel's Guernsey Frequency. There was an odd occasion where Central was picked up and once and only once I got Yorkshire.

Anyway back to the point, I feel companys should only be allowed 2 licenses at the most i.e. HTV for West and Wales.

ITV are trying to be to much like the BBC with all this corporate stuff, and I dont like it.

Channel is independent and long may it and I UTV (which I think is the only other independent region) stay that way.

SMG are snubbing this coporate look too there are no new sets on North Tonight and Scotland Today they had a new look last year .I notice the announcement on the english stations start off with something like Now on ITV 1 the News Hour with Mark Austin and Mary Nightingale and Lookaround with Fiona Armstrong and Courtney Macleod .

On STV there is NO mention of the news hour and i don't think they optout halfway through the programme to catch whats coming up on the ITV News .It's quite annoying also for the news coverage to refer to "A Single ITV " when clearly it's far from that .

Hi, I'm new here, and i just happen to live in Jersey where channel tv resides, and i have been watching channel for years.

I am quite suprised that Channel have managed to keep their independance after all this time, but i can see it slowly going down as i see more and more ITV1 idents on channel nowadays. I'm so glad we've still got Puffins Pla(i)ce though as it is brilliant, i've watched it for years.

I hope to stay here and listen to ur opinions on channel, as i think it is the best region (well i maybe biased). It does have it's problems, like bad timing on region switchovers, and the occasional screw-up on channel report, but overall a brilliant outfit. Long may channel continue!

Yeah I agree Channel is the best region. Obviously seeing as though Im from Guernsey I watch as much as possible to catch up with whats going on home.

As for its faults, well thats just the way Channel is. I wonder if other regions didnt have a direct link to london, and had to go through other regions they would have smilar problems.

ahhh hello fellow channel islander lol Laughing

well I was watching the new ITV news setup, and channel get a chance to review their headlines just after the main headlines are read out, and they seem to get the switchover spot on so far, including the music too. Perhaps the music is being overlapped by ITV themselves, but if not its a superb switch, no problems at all Cool

The only think i don't like about Channel is Kim Fortune, one of their man newscasters. He scares me!

Added by the fact that when i last visited channel i literally bumped into him, and he just grunted and walked away, p****!

So my opinion of him is not high to say the least, lol

Apart from that, channel is great Smile

So i take it ur not in Guernsey anymore?
