This Is Granada
The ITV News Channel was quite interesting this morning. The news was not bad too. I don’t mind the music and dog. Hate the clock. The studio is not to bad. The ITV News Channel is so much more watchable with 2 presenters. The only thing I hate about the News Channel is when they go for a break. I would have thought that the channel would have a breakbumper by now and maybe also introducing breakflashes. Bringing ad breaks in line with what Network ITV1 have would look good on the channel and make it that bit more ITV rather than 'still renamed ITN News channel'

This morning I saw Granada and Central news. I like the Granada CSO studio but will have to see more to fully make my mind up.

BTW whets HTV west like? ITV west news is it? ITV Wales is not too bad. Only saw HTV in GMTV this morning.

Well done to everyone at ITV News (even if a few ideas are borrowed from other news channels - what else could you do??)

What a stupid thing to say.

They could do something entirely original.

Why is it that Sky always manage to do something new and different, and the Beeb and ITV seemingly can't be arsed to put the effort in?

They've used the presenters well this morning,
7 - 9 Andrew & Lucy
9-10 Andrew on his own

Lucy continued until 9.15, so the TOTH at 9 was dual anchored.

The graphics remind me of SKYnews, my own mocks for both SKY and BBC, and BBC National News.

It is just a combination of the good things from the other 2 companies, re-coloured in yellow and blue. You dont need any more indication of this than this one image...

Yep, News 24 is enclosed in a room - it's just that it's quite an important room...the newsroom! Both News 24 and Sky News come live from a working, bustling, newsroom which makes the atmosphere better.

No, that's complete twaddle.

Sky News comes lives from a working, bustling newsroom, which makes the atmosphere better.

News 24 comes from a small enclosed area attached to a newsroom. There is no atmosphere in the News 24 studio, it is practically a vacuum.

But you surely agree that the background atmosphere on News 24 has improved since the re-launch. Prior to December 8th, I agree, it was a vacuum, but now I can quite easily hear phones ringing, and a general office noise.

Hmm - think the production brands may be retained. However I think that the Carlton/Granada regional news is no longer technically produced by the franchise production brands - it is part of the ITV News division?

Seen as both Sky News and News 24 come from 'glassed' studios in front of a newsroom then this is wrong, surely? Or am I wrong?

Anyway, ITV News thoughts? Not sure at all. Desk - rip off. Large screen looks as though it's come from CNBC and the graphics are awful (IMO). Unfortunately, not seen it livefor myself yet but maybe I'll be pleasantly shocked. Has the editorial content changed?
