So is that marina backdrop permanent now for daylight WT bulletins? When the cranes go home and it gets dark the normal one returns, but I quite like the one with all the boats actually -- thought it's not very distinctive I guess.

The crane being used on the new Assembly building is there all the time; the shot has to be zoomed in to avoid the part of the crane that has the builder's logo on it.

The shot may be changing soon... Wink

I was looking forward to see if James was going to present the HTV Wales weather tonight at 18:30, but as reported we had a blank screen. Perhaps the severe weather in London got into the works. - Just as well the pre-recorded apology worked.

Even worse today in the lunchtime bulletin on htvwales. The htv news finished and the htv news slate froze and stayed there up until katie derham reappeared for her last ever lunchtime news bulletin!

It appears as if a weather bulletin should have been inserted but never appeared! At least there was an apology for yesterdays' missing weather but no apology was made today!

HTV (or ITV Wales as they are now calling themselves...) Press Release...

ITV WALES NEWS IS LAUNCHED
ITV Wales News will be launched next Monday 2 February replacing HTV News - with a new look common to all news services within the newly-formed ITV News Group. The new service will incorporate similar music, title sequences and graphic style as other regional news programmes within ITV.

ITV Wales News will also be integrated with the national ITV News. Lunchtime bulletins are already integrated and this will be extended to include the 6pm main news programme and the late evening bulletins.

Part of the relaunch involves the late evening ITV News moving to a permanent weeknight slot at 10.30 with the ITV Wales News bulletins following at 10.50.

The integration involves shared headline sequences, in-programme promotion and the inclusion of weather reports in news programmes. There will also be a final live Wales headlines slot at around 6.50 each evening towards the end of the ITV News.

ITV Wales Head of News, John Williams said, "The new titles, music and graphic look along with the integration of all news output will deliver a dramatic new look for our news service.

"We boast a strong team of presenters – led by Jonathan Hill and Lucy Cohen - and reporters who already have a strong loyalty among our viewers. These changes will enable us to deliver more dramatic forms of presentation and we are also examining ways of further improving our programme content."

I hope that means a weather forecaster in the studio, but I'm doubtful.

There is something that doesnt fit with all this news rebranding!

Surely every news bulletin should be named ITV News Wales, ITV News South, ITV News London etc etc. It does'nt sound correct saying ITV Wales News. So the channel is called ITV 1 Wales, whereas the news is ITV Wales News. Hmmm - Im sure the BBC fell into this same trap a few years back when the stations were called BBC Wales (on) One and BBC Wales (on) Two.

Imagine someone signing off a news bulletin on ITV Wales News, it would go along the lines of 'Tara Branfield, ITV Wales News, Carmarthen.'

Surely 'Tara Branfield, ITV News, Carmarthen.' sounds much better and could easily be used on the ITV News Channel aswell?

Indeed - isn't this part of the plan?

I hope so! Seem's a waste otherwise!

I see the temptation to go shoe shopping was just too great for Lucy then. Tis pay day after all.

Well I don't know where young Jez has gone so shall I tell everyone what happened then? Ok. Well -- not a lot. The highlight was the fab Bonnie Tyler at the end [number one in France you know].

My hopes for the dark anti-propaganda powers of Tara were unfounded, seeing as only a brief mention of facelifts, name changes and music changes was made at the middle and end by Jonathan. HTV West mentioned their signed headlines would be at 6.50pm from Monday, so I can only assume this will be the same for Wales also.

Rhodri was sitting down [I never liked him standing] and they didn't show the HTV News screen much [noticeable at the end shot]. HTV West's makeshift studio was actually quite nice I thought, though you could see the autocue London Tonight style. Content was a bit rubbish but still.

And that was the end of the main evening trumpets.

What do you mean where have I gone, I was here this morning, remember I posted about Sally reading the GMTV Wales bulletins and Marie Claire whats her name turning up!

Did you really expect Lucy to read the news on payday? She is *ill* remember - im so happy its pay day, its been six weeks since the last one what with Xmas and Everything!

Was Jonathan on something tonight or what, he seemed a little more excitable than normal, especially makes jokes about Giles age (twice!!) ! Laughing And at the end he seemed so excited about the facelift. Nice to see Tara on the news too, but I would have preferred Lucy Cohen or Justina Simpson tbh

So is this new look being launched with the 6pm bulletin on Monday or it from GMTV Wales onwards? If its GMTV I demand Justina comes in to read the bulletins! Very Happy

I wonder who will be this weekends weekend newsreader on the final weekend of HTV NEWS - lets hope its someone decent, we had Justina last week so perhaps it will be Richard Morgan this week?

HTV logo gets boot in ITV news revamp - Daily Post
Quote:
y Tom Bodden, Daily Post

THE familiar HTV logo is finally to disappear from television screens across Wales.

The 30-year-old association with the brand name had been retained only in HTV News after the commercial channel switched to a common network title as ITV Wales.

But now it is to go with a new image using similar music, title sequences and graphic as other ITV regional news programmes.

The commercial television network has been moving closer to a single ITV brand, including ITV2 and ITV News, in the face of an explosion of TV channels via digital satellite and cable.

The latest change follows the merger of former HTV owners Carlton with Granada.

ITV Wales head of news John Williams said: "The new titles, music and graphic look along with the integration of all news output will deliver a more dramatic look for our news service.

"We boast a strong team of presenters - led by Jonathan Hill and Lucy Cohen - and reporters who already have a strong loyalty among our viewers.

"These changes will enable us to deliver more dramatic forms of presentation and we are also examining ways of further improving our programme content," he said.

HTV announced last September it was tuning in to the ITV1 Wales brand, but would keep the HTV News title for its flagship news programme, as an existing strong brand.

Originally called Harlech Television in 1970s after its founder chairman Lord Harlech, it soon adopted simply HTV.

Lunchtime news bulletins have already been integrated with the ITV national news and this will be extended to include the main 6pm news programme and the late evening bulletins from Monday.

Part of the revamp is to establish the late evening ITV News to a permanent weeknight slot at 10.30pm, with ITV Wales News bulletins following at 10.50pm.

A spokesman said that all regional new bulletins would be integrated into the ITV style.

"HTV remains the licence holder but viewers will no longer see the name on screen and all reference to programmes will be as ITV Wales.
