Central News says it will be called ITV Central, as Bob sais

Yeah...but do you think he means the station will be called ITV Central....or will the news be called "ITV Central"???

Can't imagine the announcer saying "Now, it's time for the latest ITV Central!"

Does this mean that other regions news will be called ITV Granada, ITV HTV, ITV Westcountry???

What do u think??? Confused: Confused:

He's talking about the station loosing it's Carlton branding, the lack of a "1" is just because he's adlibbing!

can we try and get ITV News issues in this thread and talk about the formation of ITV PLC and the end of Carlton into the other thread as theres a lot of duplication going on at the moment

Granada Reports is staying as far as i know as the new image on the Granada Website carry's the name Granada Reports. Also I don't think Tony said there was a new look Monday. Also un like last time they used the real studio, As last time on the Friday before the new look they were using the Blue Screen.

Shame the London Tonight backdrop will be gone because they are moving. I think it is the best Regional News background.

If they are moving, why? I don't see any point because it is not out of date or anything and it is a good studio (just needs some tweaks)

Lastly, why didn't the presenter say anything about the 'new look' on monday? It seems every other programmes mentioned it. Did they just forget Rolling Eyes

London Tonight will still be there on Monday - ITN aren't taking over just yet. Larry Scutta has previously said that he's heard April on the grapevine.

Presumably they will get the new generic titles on Monday, but the set won't change.

As to why they are moving - obviously the cost savings by integrating with ITN are the major factor.

Maybe we will see Mark and Mary stand up to introduce the headlines at the start of the proramme, likewise with the Lunchtime News. But I don't think that standing up would suit Trevor, and I think maybe the 10:30 programme should keep its own identity, doing things slightly differently from the rest of the ITV 1 bulletins.

I can't wait to see the new studio for Lookaround/Border News, it may get funding from the new ITV plc, and we may see the first decent studio ever in the Border region.

I see that Carlton TV websites have adopted the Granada layout at the top, is this to be developed further?

You are right, Tony didn't say a thing except that they will be back on Monday, very unprofessional as they have said it twice before when they were getting a new look.

I thought the end of the ITV Evening News was good, but it's just a shame that it had to end so briefly, with that's the last Evening News bulletin from this studio, good night.

Though roll on Monday.

I thought London News Network operations had actually moved to ITN? There were redundancies, weren't there?

The new set made the current one look terrible and dated, by the way.

Actually, you're right. I managed to get a copy of Tony's contract (through my friend Baron Grass, who moved to ITV to oversee the revamp of the news service before lining himself up as a possible replacement Director General of the BBC). It states the following (I hope you'll excuse me cutting out most of the crap and just quoting the relevant bit):

Tony's contract posted:
17 (ii) You will be required to mention any 'revamps', 'relaunches' or 'updated looks' for the Granada Reports studio on the preceding Friday's show. You may also be required to be filmed for trailers advertising said new look.

I don't know if they were meant to mention it, but they ran out of time so couldn't. Maybe they'll mention it on Sunday, if there is a change.

Trevor might be 64 but he still has the ability to stand. It does suit him but he never does it.

From what we saw at the end of the Evening News tonight I think the new set looks OK, but not spectacular. On the one hand, it is too empty, there aren't enough "real" elements. Funnily enough, on the other hand it looked too "busy" - I hope the graphics on the wall aren't going to swirl around and move like they did on the preview, it'll be far too distracting otherwise.

Incidentally I haven't seen ITV News for a while but watched tonight as I wanted to see the last Meridian Tonight, and I thought Bill Neely and Katie Derham presented the programme well - far better than Mark Austen and Mary Nightingale. It's a shame Katie's being moved to London news.
