More Changes Ahead for ITV News

I have just been on Granada TV's site, on the News part and I have noticed that they seemed to have changed the look, far different from the Blue/ Yellow/ Red look. Is this a clue to the new look?

Didnt Granada reports rebrand just before xmas? Surely this is a huge waste of money if there are doing it again?

Surely ITV bosses knew about a possble relaunch and held back in other regions (ie htv)

Also if htv are loseing their names along with someother regions why is granada allowed to retain their name?

They had a new look introduced in September last year when they brought in Tony Morris. But Granada aren't the only region who have had a refresh in 2003, other regions being Central West and East News, Anglia News, Calendar and London Tonight which have had some change recently.

Because Granada is a big player in ITV's future.

If this is the case, then I'll be sad to say goodbye to the fantastic Meridian Tonight theme tune. It's just like the BBC did with their regional news - some great distinctive tunes were swallowed up by corporate claptrap.

Indeed so Turnbull & Williams. The Meridian Tonight theme tune was the best ITV Regional themetune around, and it will be sad to see it go.

Personally I'll be sad to see Calendar lose their theme, which has been a variation on the same tune since the early 80s.

Border will lose their theme that they have had for 10 years, it was quite good for a region with little money, although it is time that they did something with set. I'm hoping to see a few modications to the set on Monday, if not a new one.

It's going to be a shame that Granada Reports' theme is going, though many people hate it, I like it very much as it is a cool remix of the theme when it was created in 2001.

Shame that the London Tonight, Meridian Tonight and Calendar themes will be disappearing too.

I've never liked the current London Tonight theme. It's predecessor (the music it had after the original launch) was much better, with it representing the name of the programme: "Lon - don To - night"!!

Well I think the Granada Reports theme is dire. And it sounds like it's been put through the noise reduction filter in 'Cool Edit'. Good riddance to it, and that silly furniture.

But why they can't have permanent ITV-Granada on-screen identity is beyond me...
