BTW, if you actually read the article in the paper (rather than the online version) you will see a nice photo of David sitting in a CSO studio, with a pan and tilt hot-head camera above him...

As this re-launch is designed to bring the local and national news together, what if the titles for each regional news program work in the same way as the national news titles.

ITV News has unveiled its new look and Ł1m state of the art set, which will accompany its re-launch on 2 February, the day the merger between Carlton and Granada becomes official.
The revamp will mark the creation of the ITV News Group when national, international and regional news services will all become part of one division. It will see the launch of the News at 22.30 ending years of confusion about its nightly news bulletin, which became known as News at When?
Newly appointed ITV News editor in chief David Mannion said the programme would move away from rolling news bulletins to focus more on live items, interviews and breaking news. He added he intends to increase sport, business and foreign news and take the News at 22.30 more "upscale". He added: "It will be a pacy hard news programme".
The News at 22.30 will presented by Trevor McDonald, who has also been made associate editor of the bulletin. Mark Austin will be his deputy and is being lined up to be McDonald’s eventual successor.
ITV News Group chief executive Clive Jones claimed that the closer integration of individual news operations would result in a more effective service. But the merged news entity has led ITV minority franchise holders SMG to fear they will be sidelined in the decisions about the national news.
The 'News' bit doesn't fit with the 'i t v' bit; they're different fonts, News has a capital N - why? - and it doesn't have anything linking it to the squares below!
