Would they bother doing this if they weren't going to show the newsroom in the set?

Well it looks like they have done, so, er... yes.

ITV has today confirmed that its late evening news bulletin will move to 10.30pm from Monday February 2, finally bringing down the curtain on News at Ten.

Quote:
The broadcaster began promoting the bulletin's move to 10.30pm on billboards around London today.

This advertising campaign confirms what rivals broadcasters believed would be the timing of the change.

ITV is expected to officially schedule the new slot for its late evening news bulletin in the billings it exchanges with other networks on Wednesday for the week beginning Saturday January 31.

That is from the Guardian Website, so what we knew is now Official.

So we can expect that weekend's bulletins and the News Channel to be CSO'd? The article doesn't really elaborate whether the NC will also relaunch that day, but common sense says yes.

They don't give the name of the new programme either. Any Londoners seen any of these billboards ? I expect we'll see some on-screen promotion before long.

When I watched the Lunchtime News today with James Mates I thought I noticed something different.

Above the Set I noticed what looked like one of the above Floors of the ITN Building. Now I have never noticed that before. Is it something new or is it just me not looking properly around the Set.?.

No it's nothing new - i'm not even sure it's real either.

Another thing, is it confirmed that the regions will also be revamped on the same day as the News at Ten Thirty, ITVNC etc.?

Have a look at this link.. lots of old ITN news music. I just do not think today's effort measures up!! Personally the titles and music to the lunchtime news from the early 1990s with the likes of John Suchet, and when it was jointly presented by Nick Owen and Sonia Rusela (they have spelt her name wrong I think) are my favourites.

It's not real, its CSO'd. If there was nothing there you would be able to see all the studio lights, I've seen the studio and they are quite low.

I think all regions are getting generic titles and graphics, although I don't think there will be many new sets. I'm expecting Lookaround to get a new look, it's about time, plus it is completely different to all other regions, they all have desks.

Wow. Some of those things are old. What were they thinking with that happy chessy music on the news. Not only in the 60's but also in use in the 80's! How were they supposed to report series news with that!

The 80s music definitely was cheesy and rubbish . The 90s was a huge turnaround. Loved the ITN 8 O'clock Gulf News Report music.. very dark and dramatic. I think the studio with the newsroom and the world map behind the newsreader was excellent. The way the camera panned in from the atrium was very exciting. Liked the way the NaT studio bordered the newsroom too.. as the programme went into the ads we saw the newsroom from a different angle. A generic look I suppose, but NaT in its own studio gave it identity and authority.

I agree with you, sadly though, it appears we won't see that kind of era again.

I quite liked the 90's morning/lunchtime/early evening music with the clock face as it dramatically built up.

Obviously with not having access to NBC Europe I never saw the 1996 world news, but it was clever how they integrated the CSO and globe into the newsroom. That's something that I'd like to see when they relaunch intergrating any VR with a proper set.
