Anyone noticed that the blue and yellow ITV News astons no longer animate? This to me says that they are perhaps using the News Channel gallery, as they produce the Morning News with no animation on the astons. Preparation for the relaunch?!?

Yes, I have noticed this.

Does anyone what kind of titles ITV News will take? I hope it'll be decent, rather than them re-using Big Ben chiming which is terrible! Maybe they could do a variation of the BBC News ident except with different title music?

I had the good fortune to see and hear the new titles for London Tonight yesterday. Wouldn't you just love a screen grab? Well, you're not getting one. Smile As I'm sure you must know, this is a big opportunity for ITV to get well ahead of its news rivals, and as such the will not be compromised by any self-respecting ITV plc employee. Wink

I can describe it, though. They're all in very "blue & yellow" corporate ITV colours.... hold on, perhaps I'd better not. Smile

But I can tell you that the music is to be standardised across the country. RIP regional news music.

No shocks really in the line up. From reading here I'm guessing Mark and Mary remain on the Evening News, with Katie moving to London News and possibly still having a role on the News Channel and filling in on ITV News. I guess Trevor is the main late night presenter, with Mark and Mary filling in, while I bet John will take over the weekends completely.

So that's what you're all known as these days! Very Happy

Yellow and blue isn't the worst combination ever. As long as each has an individuality to it - Anglia news is quite a good example of that. I just hope the national news still has some sort of hard hitting tune to it, rather than a wishy-washy plinky-plonky 'cosy' theme.

If you're telling the truth, then Crying or Very sad at the loss of the Meridian Tonight music - the most newsy news music anywhere.

I think there will be standardised music and graphics for all regions (England, Wales, Southern Scotland) on February 2nd, with standardised sets to be rolled out throughout the year. It won't take long to produce the music and graphics, although the sets may take longer. Although in my opinion, ALL the regions should get a new look at the same time (music, graphics, set). I think ITV plc are rushing things.

Just in the 4pm hour or earlier? Presumably she is on the Evening News tonight - Mark, Katie or Mary often do the 4-5 hour.

There is an article about the changes to ITV news in Broadcast this week. Interestingly enough it describes the role of the Chief Editor of ITV news an insider told Broadcast that "It's going to be an extremely demanding job because there is so much output all the way from Border to Westcountry ". Nothing mentioned there about SMG or UTV so it may just affect the current ITV 1 regions i hope so anyway.
