He also says that they are looking to move away from City Road as they don't need as many studios as they did in the old days as they don't make as many studio-based programmes.

What a load of rubbish - it's simply because GMG want the money. If TTTV were allowed to they'd make much better use of City Road.

Interesting, could this be the plans by the NC to use LNN presenters when ITN take over the London regional service?

Hmmm, I'd bet that Katie Derham is a high profile target for poaching now, even though the London regional news service has a large potential audience, it is a bit of a backward step for her isn't it? Also adding in the factor that London Tonight is almost usually behind BBC London News in terms of viewers, though their is the possiblity of schedule changes at 6pm for local and national news, so who knows what is going to happen in that field.

I suspect that the three presenters for 10.30 is because it is unlikely Sir Trevor will renew his contract whenever it comes up for renewal, at least for presenting news bulletins, due to the fiasco that is ITV News.

It's also been suggested on here and elsewhere that from the ITV News relaunch on 2 Feb, they will implement dual-presentation for the News Channel, perhaps that is where some of the dropped LNN presenters will go?

I presume the itv news logo won't be changing, just the stacked 'itv' in blue on yellow and 'news' in yellow on blue.

Yeah seems likely that LNN presenters will go to the News Channel. Someone said that Lucy Alexander was seen presenting on there. I do hope Anna Maria Ashe will play a part in the new look London News???

Yes, i' m surprised she's gone from national to regional this early in her career. I suppose she'll still be working for ITN.

Why hasn't the article mentioned who'll be presenting the Evening News? John Suchet??

All I WILL say, is that a common CSO background for ALL the regions could easily be knocked up on Sunday afternoon, February 1st, and sent round for everybody to use.

And if it's come to that, then things truly are in a bad way. What's with the hurry anyway ? Why not wait for ITV plc or whatever to settle in first, and plan a proper relaunch.

I think the operative word is probably could .
It will be interesting to see if whether CSO backdrops do form part of this alleged revamp, anyway.

Not holding my breath for the revamp, mind.

Common CSO backdrops are definitely NOT part of the plans.

I've heard rumours that the new ITV set is round with plasma screens everywhere .. presenters doing lots of standing up, with a sort of circular table in the middle. Not sure if that's coffee table like or not. Be interesting to see. Told it does look very impressive.

Sounds a bit Liquid News pre oct 2002 relaunch.
I wonder why everyone's going for a round desk. BBC National, Newsnight, now itv news.

It would be nice if they turned the current CSO set into a mini version of the national set for the itv news channel rather than sharing the studio. Plasma screens against the windows overlooking the newsrooms.

Maybe we will get a new version of the theme tune, or a totally new theme. Maybe!

What will they be doing with the 10pm slot. Do you think it would be a good idea to have 5 comedies playing in this slot. We could have a comedy like
Arrow hardware (i'd like to see this repeated as I didn't see them all as it was up against 24),
Arrow the sketch show (again up against 24, late on a saturday night or early saturday evening)
Arrow A new series of Baddiel & Skinner Unplanned (should be back soon)
Arrow Harry Hill's TV Burp ( we know that this is back in february! )
Arrow Then something new, or an american import that can go against channel4 on a friday night. Though they may stick to a Touch of Frost (8:30-10:30) in this slot.

With the news said to be moving to 10:30, does this mean we will see it start at 10:30, or 10:33?

I'd prefer to see it start on time, or maybe early with more adverts in the middle than them put adverts on before. Plus it may keep viewers if they go from the end credits to the genric ident and straight into the news.

The article at MediaGuardian says, "Mary Nightingale and Mark Austin will join main anchor Sir Trevor McDonald as regular presenters of the new bulletin"

In what sense of the word join are they using here ? Does "join" mean it will become dual anchored or that they will stand in for Trevor when he fancies an early night ?
