I am so glad I watched Wales Yesterday at 7.30pm tonight as I tuned into Corrie at 8.30pm and the whole Cilla, Chesney, Rita thing was very annoying, you just feel like pointing a gun at the TV or something like that because I can't stand them now. Though at least Cilla and Chesney are more believable characters.

Like Gavin said, you can't stand them, because they're doing a good job in succeeding in doing that!
The problem with Cilla is, yes the character is awful and we all hate her and thats what the writers want us to feel about her but IMO Wendi Peters who plays her is an
appalling
actress. We would hate the character more if a proper actress played her.
Barbara Knox is one of the best actresses Corrie has (if not
the
best) Im so glad she is finally getting a storyline, she deserves it. She was great in the last few episodes, especially when she really put Cilla in her place last night.
Im not a big fan of Maya and Dev, but I did find the scenes with them better than usual tonight, I think the character of Maya has good potential.
I dont mind Kate Ford, I think she is a good actress but Adam Rickett hasnt improved at all since he first appeared in the show, hope he isnt in it too long, Todd is also a bit annoying at the moment too, the sooner her comes out of the closet the better.

I think she's a fine actress, she's only playing the part how they want her to. The character is so awful and loathesome that she's a charicature (like many of Corrie's characters), she invokes a reaction which is a good thing. She has no redeeming features at all and is obviously there to make Janice look normal. Hands up anyone who thinks that Cilla & Les won't last, and it's paving the way for a Janice return ?

Yes all those others mentioned are good actors and are only disliked because that's the point. Cilla is supposed to be hated, people who say 'I don't like suchandsuch' I don't really understand, we'd end up with just nice people on the street.
Adam Rickett is officially a bad actor though and all he seems to do is read his lines out and do that embarrased grinny face he always pulls. I *can* wait until the gay storyline crops up again because we'll have to suffer Nick being even smugger than usual.
Oh and I think it was good we saw Les's reaction to the Chesney Shoplifting incident, and was on Rita's side and didn't seem to want to go along with the compo idea, maybe Les isn't that bad after all!

I dont like her mouth either
The character is someone that is hated amongst the other street residents and fans, I just think they could have chosen a better actress to play her.
I hope Janice and Les get back together, I also liked it when Janice put Cilla in her place that time!
The way I feel about Cilla is the same as I did about Greig Kelly (someone else mentioned him too), Fred's biggamist wife (I forget her name - the one who he bought the Rovers for), Douggie, the Doctor and his wife - and several others that the current producer was wise enough to get rid of. They never fit into the programme. "Baddies" work well (a) if you love to loath them, (b) the acting is top rate, and (c) the character is 3 dimentional - sometimes you care about them. I can't stand Les, yet he serves a purpose, is played well and he does have different sides to his personality. Look how they pitched Richard just right - he was more panto than horror - that's the Corrie way!
Yes, Cilla is intended to be nasty, and it has given Janice a chance to out-bitch her (YAY!) but I personally just can't watch these scenes with this particular storyline - there are too many bratty kids and gobby low life on the bus and in the street nearly every day of the week and I just don't want to see this in my own home - I am using the mute as I said I would in my earlier posting!
It's a shame because it is good to see RIta in a real storyline for once, I just feel the whole CIlla character is wrong and I hope is just a temporary addition to the street. She (character and actress) is like a reject from Brookside at its worse. I want to shout "Boo hssss " at the screen and get involved - not "p**s off " and turn over.
I think Kate Ford has settled into the role well, and I just love to hate her - she is a great baddie. Nick isn't as annoying as he was last time, but the acting is still dire, and there's something about the way he grins and delivers the line "Todd is GAY Sarah" that is sooooo iritating.
Here are some pictures of Todd's new love interest, Karl Foster (Chris Finch). He's a colleague of Martin's who befriends Katy, and Martin becomes jealous. However we soon find out Karl is gay which leads to his relationship with Todd - apparently it all happens around February/March time but Karl is on screen this week.
I like Cilla - she's annoying and arrogant. A perfect replacement for Janice. The actress may not be the best, but she plays the part of Cilla well.
Yes, I do like Cilla too. I love characters like her, Dog rough, Bone Idol and a money hungry Bit*h. Great! That little turd (Sorry Child) is quite funny too. Like Mother, like son!
Oh....that’s him. I did think that Todd's first Gay love would be some 'Oil Painting' but hay, a wax crayon one will do!!!!
Well I wouldnt crawl over broken glass to get to him, but he is alright, its kind of hard to judge by a couple of pictures, he looked nice in the Inside Soap picture they printed.
This storyline with Charlie/Bev is so cringeworthy - what is the big deal with him anyway? Bev and Deirdre and making fools of themselves drooling over him all the time. Deirdre is acting like she was when she was in her 20s, drooling over men back then was OK, but now she's in her 40s she is kind of desperate.
Thank goodness for the storyline with Rita, its been excellent this week! Rita has acted the likes of Cilla, Todd and Nick off the screen. I cant believe Inside Soap had the cheek to compair Cilla with Elsie Tanner! I bet Patricia Phoenix is turning in her grave.
The Dev and Maya storyline was quite good this week too, I liked his reaction to her stealing that vase, im quite looking forward to Maya going loopy
