''Over to Brother Scott for the Sport''

30 minutes is perfect for an Early Evening Weekend bulletin, and I would like to see Angus Scott on ITV News. He has presented on London Tonight before and ITV News would be just a step forward from that.

Also we've had 20-25 minute bulletins on a Sunday.

Problems on today's bulletin. Andrea got muddled before the football report, and then the Britney Spears report had to be cut short because obviously time was running out, there were no credits and it was all very rushed.

I for one don't particularly like Steve Scott as a newsreader. That permanent smirk can get a bit grating at times. Chris Rogers gets a lot of unfair stick IMO.

Btw, didn't somebody say in the old ITV News thread that the new look would be seen on the ITVNC before ITV1, and that there was a possibilty that the old ITN studio could be used?

The old ITN NC studio is destined for the London regional service, is it not?

Seems like a very tight timetable.

A huge relaunch like that can be done - the BBC in 1997 was one example, providing they've done a lot of planning. Plans about the relaunch have probably been going on for many, many months now. Us finding out the information all of a sudden a month beforehand implies they've not got any time left. I'm sure that's not the case.

Speaking of which, what was the extent of people's knowledge about the BBC rebrand pre-September 1997 or whenever it was? Would, for instance, we have known about it months beforehand had this forum been in existence? It came as a complete surprise to me when it happened - I first saw the BBC logo on the Final Score graphics that Saturday and told myself it was a dodgy improvisation or something. Then the balloon! Wow! So were there similar reactions or was it well known what would happen?

Well I had no clue that it was going to happen. I noticed it whilst watching CBBC One before Live & Kicking and they used the first black & yellow breakfast show ident all morning with the with the sun rising and the cockrell crowing on the fence.
And then they used the black & yellow frog/lillypad anmation before live & kicking, which had the then new BBC logo replacing the old on the titles.

And then the I saw the baloon before the weather at 12:12. I couldn't stop thinking how much work they must've done to change everything.

And then I remember an edition of Points of View where loads of people wrote in saying they hated the baloons. I think it was Chris Searle presenting at that point

Sounds like quite sophisticated thought patterns for a 3 year old. Wink

Yeah thanks Neil!
I think I was 13 or around that at the time.

I remember the new BBC logo being in the Radio Times beforehand, while on the listings pages the 1/2 ident captures were replaced by logos similar to the box one we have now. IIRC, BBC2 was purple while BBC1 was red with a yellow world before hand. I imagine that would be the ident though, not the actual balloon.

BBC Two was originally green/blue (a sort of Windows 9x Green), that was the channel's 'official' colour.
