A small presentation desk has been constructed near the area where Martin Stanford
presents from. It's a purpose built mini-set and will look much better than simply
having the presenter perched on the end of a desk.

Would the area pointed at by the arrow in my quick, low quality screengrab be what that was referring to . . . ?

Yes, that's the new desk which I guess we'll see in use on Monday morning after 10.

Looks like they're already testing the camera angle for that mini-set with the CSO'd backdrop
shown on this screengrab of the Sport screen, from the video selections on Sky News Active:

The "S" on the right looks like part of the illuminated SN logo seen on my earlier screengrab . . .

I dont think its CSO or an angle from the mini-desk. I reckon its just the Sports Presenter at the main desk, with the camera shooting him from the side so that logo is in view.

The mini-desk would be filmed from within the newsroom I would think!

Oh I don't know. The edge of him looks wierd, and the lightning looks different for him and the background!

he's wearing a multi-coloured tie for one thing! Secondly they used a similar view for the look at the papers, but voomed out, and the whole logo was in view...

The sound of his voice instantly reminds me of SKYnews, but he has now joined the rival side!

I have just seen TOTH on Sky News and they zoomed in, it looks fantastic, but i do agree the news room is too dark. Is the glass window seperating the set with the newsroom still there. It looks like it has gone!

He was probably sat there all through his shift saying to himself, "Don't say 'Sky News', don't say 'Sky News'!" Would be an easy thing to do after almost 15 years there. Very Happy

Too dark as in colours or too dark as in not well-lit?

Bear in mind that you need a lot of light to get a decent picture out of a TV camera. A level of lighting that is acceptable to you to work in, probably will look terrible viewed on a monitor even using a low light setting Wink

Personally, I like the new set and whether it's too dark or whatever matters not to me. The ones who matter are the ones who work in that newsroom. If any of them read this, why don't you say if you think it's too dark...
