I'm not sure how the new Granada Reports will work... it's going to be called 'Granada Reports', have the ITV logo all over it, and be based in London?
Well Sky manage to report events in different countries from London, how hard can it be to just present the same local stories they have been doing for years, from a set in London, as opposed to Manchester etc...

Forgive me for sounding rude, but you live in London, you have the advantage to be in an area where your local, National plus Sky are controlled from.
I live in Manchester and I prefer my local Regional News to be bsed in the North West. O.K. I rpefer Manchester to Liverpool, but Liverpool in in the North-West.
I am also a firm believer in National Events being brought to other parts of the Country, not just in London.
How would you feel in London Tonight was suddenly switched from London to Manchester covering Local Stories for London and the South-East.
Can't see UTV branding its news bulittens as ITV News. They've dropped practically all the ITV1 stuff they relaunched with back in October 2002 (even Big Blue is finally gone now), only the music is left (thank heavens, or we could have been back to the UTV Jingle) and ITV1 doesn't use that now anyway. Given the cuthroat competition in NI between BBC Newsline at 6:30 and UTV Live at Six (with UTV Live continously beating BBC Newsline), I doubt it will happen.
Incidently, February 2 - the day mentioned in this thread - is the scheduled day for commencement of trading of ITV plc shares (subject to all necessary approvals etc). Under the new structures, all the ITV franchisees under ITV plc's control become part of a division called ITV News (headed by Clive Jones), so branding them all (the ITV plc-held franchisees) as ITV News has a certain logic about it.
It would be great if all the regions were going to use the same format. IT would look strange if only UTV, channel and SMG are the only ones not to do so.
I wonder with everything changing will we see a set of new idents with hopefully some for the regions, with perhaps images from various parts of the that region in the background

We already have idents like that on the Carlton regions (HTV, Westcountry and Central)
The one thing I like about the current studio is that you can see the cameras at the high shot of the studio, and I hope they don't lose this when they relaunch.
Re: ITV News going 16:9. Will this affect C4 and five aswell. Channel 4 News is probably due for a revamp soon, and it's been over three months since Five News last had an overhaul. Maybe going 16:9 could be the day the Five New theme is re-instated.
Also, any news on the presenters on ITV1. Hopefully Trevor will either retire or move to the 10.30pm bulletin, because IMO the Evening News is better off with Mark and Mary co-hosting.

It'll most probably depend on if ITV pay itn extar money to make changes to their broadcasts, so basically paying to have the systems updated, or whether ITN are going to update all of their systems.
When LNN move to ITN, will the weather then come from ITN, or stay at the London Studios. It would be nice if they could have weather as part of news bulletins, if they keep the screen, perhaps have the weather person at the screen. Or if they do go virtual, how about the whole weather on a virtual map on the floor so that the weather forecaster walks over the map, sort of how this mornings fred used to!
Is it definite that ITV News is going widescreen, or is this just a rumour like the famous Sky News going widescreen rumour of about 18 months ago? It seems odd that if ITN have 16:9 kit installed they relaunched Five news recently in 4:3.
If so, are the regions going to go 16:9 as well, or maybe 14:9 like most BBC regions?
Also, is the News Channel definitely going widescreen too?
The only points that haven't yet been specifically mentioned are the change to 16:9 on February 2nd for ALL news on ITV; and the move of the national news to 18:00 on the same date, with the local stuff as an opt, part way through the hour.
I TOO am puzzled as to why this thread hasn't been re-named. Given the quality of his web site, perhaps Benjy Shathole doesn't know that you have to edit the first post of the thread to change the title?
As far as I'm aware, both these rumours are complete rubbish. What's your source?
And I think you were a little harsh on Benjamin. You could do worse than taking a bit of your own advice and have a think about improving the quality of
your own
website...
