Right ... so we've got a new ITV News Changes thread ... this one. Enjoy!

Could the topic title be changed to ITV News Changes then ? Wink

No, because the old one was named "ITV News Changes" before last night, and it's not the same thread. Don't want people to get TOO confused.

*OH!* That was a joke. Right. Wink

So is this one for day to day minor items as well then?

I suppose it is as the 'BBC News 24 Relaunch Thread' also discusses presenter issues and stuff.

There's a rare appearance from Jonathan Wills on tonight on the NC

I changed the name of the thread after cursorily reading through the last few pages. Let me know by PM if it should be changed to something else. Please continue discussing the revamp here, and use this thread for comments about day-to-day and general ITV News stuff *not* revamp-related.

But where do we discuss the itv news revamp? Confused
There's now one thread about the regional news revamp, one about general (non-revamp) itv news, but you've closed the one about the itv news revamp!

I am rather anoyed that mr tom servo has closed the itv news revamp thread which I started just before midnight. it lasted less than 3 hours. why did you close this topic. Evil or Very Mad

Back on topic, I hope the Evening News does remain at 6.30pm rather than going head to head with the BBC at 6pm. I personally like the idea of a short national summary at 6pm (similar to the Lunchtime summary at noon), which would be extended to cover major events (like during the Iraq war).

Also, are the national programmes keeping individual names, or will they all be branded ITV News.

PS: Nice of ITV to try and do the whole thing at once. Although the BBC generic look was introduced gradually, you did think that by the time the regions adopted the look that they should have done it to co-incide with the national revamp.

I'm not sure how the new Granada Reports will work... it's going to be called 'Granada Reports', have the ITV logo all over it, and be based in London?

From what I understand the programmes will continue to be regionally based but will just have more prominant ITV News branding. For example, astons may all be branded ITV News and reports signed off ITV News so that the material can be re-used on the ITV NC without any additional editing.

No, but that is where the real decisions about the nature and style of the program are now being made, so control of the program is increasingly moving out of Northern hands.

Changing the ITV News Channel and the National & Regional News bulliens together, that's a good idea - and it's an idea that hasn't been pinched from the BBC.
