Even though Su is OK she is quite average IMO, and more of a Central face than a HTV Wales one. Im *very* suprised you choose her over someone like Nicola or Sally who have been around for ages. OMG I remember that pic of Giles Smith naked, thankfully I only saw it once Laughing

Well now don't get your feathers in a ruffle. In *my* opinion, I don't understand what fascinates you so much about Sally Johnson to be honest. I've nothing against her and she seems nice enough, but she's never done anything. She's been at HTV the longest and she's still doing GMTV.

The calendar can also present *events* that have happened during the life of the thread of dreams -- Su returning was an event this year. Sally Johnson, bless her, isn't an event.

She's never done anything special for the main news, or her own programming, and she doesn't really scream personality to me. And she never smiles either. Like I say I don't have any captures of Nicola -- she hasn't appeared in vision for about four years.

Where's my chocolate orange?

Im not getting my feathers in a ruffle, im just telling you what I think thats all.

Sally's biggest claim to fame is that she is the only newsreader still with HTV News from the old school days (pre the 1993 relaunch of HTV) She was also the news editor for a few years and around 1999 returned to GMTV bulletins. Can I suggest the reason she still does GMTV is because thats what she has requested, she only works part time so maybe 2 days a week is enough for her.
She is a lot better than Andrew Jones on GMTV bulletins anyway. Su returned yes, but Sally also made a return to GMTV after a two month absense in the summer, (she was away working on other projects apparently) and we got Justina on Thursdays on GMTV during that period I think.

No choccie orange for you, I am most upset you left Sally out Wink

Lies. I can see feathers, ruffled all over. Feathers everywhere -- what are they all about then, hmm?

BBC Wales have got their tree up as predicted, although HTV haven't bothered again, as predicted. But then again, of the ITV regions I've seen only a handful have got a tree.

BBC Wales' tree keeps moving around a lot as well -- perhaps it's on a skateboard like Declan Curry's on Breakfast.

The part of Derek was played by Alex Deakin tonight.

Seen some more different Christmas stuff on S4C~, including a Christmassy clock.

No idents yet but if last year is anything to go by, they'll start tomorrow. Newyddion unusually don't seem to want the tree.

Christmas trees aren't Welsh! That's why the miserable producers of Newyddion don't want a tree! Laughing

They'd rather have a tinsel-covered statue of Dylan Thomas or something! Wink

I dont expect HTV News will have a tree, there is only 1 more HTV News at 6 this week so its hardly worth the effort now, tommorow Lucy and Jon will reveal the winner of the Best Decorated house competiton - I can hardly contain myself Rolling Eyes

I noticed Neath Port Talbot Hospital was the top story on HTV News tonight - nice to see Jon and Lucy back on tonight, over the last few weeks one or the other has been off so they've not been on together much.

I wonder who will be doing GMTV bulletins tommorow - as Sally will have her normal days off this week she should really be brought forward to Tue/Wed otherwise we will have misery guts Jones. Or maybe we could have Justina, now surely TV D even you wouldnt complain if we had Justina!

Correct indeed! They are in fact German.

The tradition of having fir trees brought into the house was imported into the UK by Prince Albert
in the 1830s. Before that time, no sane Welsh person would have dreamt of doing such a silly thing
(and environmentally unfriendly act).

Well then why didn't they get one last week? And anyway, Christmas trees will traditionally stay up all next week too, up to new year. HTV are just being tight.

Anyway ~

We are celebrating Christmas eve eve with Derek Brockway, BBC Wales weather forecaster extraordinaire. 2003 has been a strong year for Derek, first going national to Sky viewers on Derek Day, and then expanding further to all ntl cable viewers, spreading *joining in* fun further across the nation.

A disappointingly low number of things broken this year by Derek [inlcuding his own bones], but there have been some top OBs, including

and

and who can forget

I'm still grumpy about S4C~ analogue changing their closedown music to the digital one. Now it just sounds like rubbish dull menu music, before it was excellent. Tut, no need -- it may as well go 24hrs now.

Oh, and look at that kid behind Derek swearing at the camera.. And you thought Mumbles was posh.

LOL, I knew you would be including Derek on this calender, although I did think it would be tommorow, the final day. Laughing Have you say, you have included a fair few HTV celebs on there, I thought your fave was BBC Wales today with your close relation Sara?

Anyway its Andrew Jones on GMTV bulletins this morning.

Yeah but it's not about favourites, it's about the year in pictures for this thread. The people making the news and those most talked about etc. Andrew Jones isn't a particular favourite of mine, but there's no doubting how much he's been talked about by everyone.

This is my point you see young Jez about Sally Johnson -- apart from you saying she did the news today or whatever, no-one has talked about her, and she hasn't done anything noteworthy. It is an advent calendar of the *faces* and stories of this thread, rightfully I should've included Ron 'Badger watching honest' Davies, but well, this time he missed out.

*squirm*

And I think it would've been a little obvious to have Derek on christmas eve. Then again christmas eve eve is more appropriate, he seems the *always the bridesmaid* type of person.

Yep

Of course, do you take me for some sort of charlatan? Peanut saved 2003, albeit briefly -- it could've ended up a lot worse than it did. Lucy Cohen was being dragged over into the dark side. Damn that propaganda.

I cannot *believe* I have to work into christmas eve, how crap is that. I still have two presents to buy as well. But it's ok, I'm expecting two dozen chocolate oranges from all you lot.

Or the Lidl equivalent, as is the case.
