Well it seems Phil's been reading the forum since yesterday - he's certainly much chirpier and on better form today! He's properly thanking the sports presenter, talking to Anna and injecting some banter into the links, which is nice to see. I think yesterday was just a particularly bad day.
Strange there were no titles at the TOTH at 1.00 there... It makes me laugh when the presenter at the projection screen looks at it when reading the headlines, only to see the animating ribbons! It happens virtually every TOTH!
Don't think this has been mentioned before, but the alignment of the 'BBC NEWS' lettering under the '24' on the half-past sting doesn't match that at the top of the hour.
Don't have any capture facilities to demonstrate this, but 'BBC NEWS' appears larger and too close to the bottom of the screen.
Thought it was my imagination at first, but it's definitely different. Looks a bit crap at half-past IMO.
Yes, you're right. There are captures of this in The TV Room

Why do they keep showing the Sky version of the BBCi news multiscreen at the bottom of the hour - this must really frustrate Freeview only viewers!
I just think the first version looks neater - the BBC NEWS is properly aligned with the 24. I suppose the average viewer wouldn't notice... but as a sad anorak, it bugs me!!
As for the BBCi business, it's probably less frustrating than for Sky News viewers on Freeview who can't get anything.

I do love the music on the bottom of the hour though, the way it starts quite and is quite subtle. Not like the previous music at .30 which was such a crash it made you jump. Far more slick now.

But Sky can't promote their service on Freeview so there's nowt they can do, N24 could do half Sky examples and half Freeview.
And another thing, they should present the .30 summary from the right-hand area (or get another screen on the left), leaving the screen out of shot until the end, when they can put the news multiscreen on the big screen - this would save the tower crashing with it like it does now.

what? that would just be stupid. what would be the point of it?
Not sure I made myself clear?
At half past the hour on News 24, after the news summary, they promote the news multiscreen service available on BBCi. The screenshot they show is that seen only on Sky (not sure about cable) and has 6 screens.
The Freeview version has only 2 screens, and, so that Freeview people don't wonder why they only have 2 - not 6 as shown - News 24 should show a screenshot of the Freeview version.
Funnily enough I was thinking today that the new look N24 is really let down by the quality of their promos. Sky's in comparison seem to have higher production values, and all-round look a lot more professional.
With N24, they've got at least three variations on the red box DOG in the bottom-right hand corner, and of course the complete shambles which is the Talking Movies promo. Can't someone make this properly in London using the raw material from the states?
Also, it's about time they started using Helvetica rather than Gill on the promos and a darker red box to match the 'tower'.
Having said that, I've not seen this new promo. Anyone got any caps?
