To be honest I'll be glad when it's over. Forgive me if I have this wrong but isn't the show format to give Joe Public the chance to live their dream of stardom?

It's also down to the public to pick who they want to win- they have! whether we agree with it or not it's a public vote and as such we all know that there can only be one winner and that choice lies with us - oh the responsibility!

The look on the judges faces when again Mark got through was hilarious. At the end of the day whether Mark is better or not than Sam the public decided they didn't want the Jamie Oliver clone - that is the way the show works.

Sam thought he was a cert and yet again the viewers threw an all mighty spanner in the works! Good on em!

Good luck to Mark and Michelle - I am hoping that one of the tour buses will stop off in Stratford next week!

Power to the people!

On Pop Idol Extra on ITV2 they just gave out an address for people interested in applying for the next Pop Idol, so obviously a 3rd series is being planned.

I don't think so. It said in one of the newspapers this week that Pop Idol is going to be axed - with Pete Waterman and Simon Cowell going to America for American Idol and Ant and Dec not that bothered in doing it again, it seems unlikely that the show will return.

Which is a shame... Crying or Very sad

Apparently, ITV have said it will come back in 2006 but it probably won't happen...

Well if it was being axed why would they give out info about applying for the next series?

Just in case perhaps. Anyway, I don't think it should return for a few years. 2008 would sound better to me.

Also you chose the wrong Saturday night to watch Pop Idol extra on ITV2 as this was one of the worst ones I have seen. Apart from that episode all the Pop Idol EXTRA programmes on ITV2 have been outstanding and much more entertaining than the ITV1 versions.

Ant and Dec havent really put as much effort into this series of Pop Idol compared to the last one whereas Kate Thornton has really raised her game and has really shone on ITV2.

My fav pieces from the ITV2 Extra programmes are the initial meeting with the judges as soon as the ITV1 prog finishes. For the last few weeks this has been classic tv where Simon Cowell and Kate have had *massive* slanging matches live on air and Kate has come back with some witty remarks and won every argument with Simon. Also it was great when Simon gave Pete Waterman's phone number out three times live on ITV2 aswell.

Kate Thornton speaks to the contestants really well and makes them relaxed and gets the best out of them. I think the ITV2 format is great but now there are only three left it does now seem quite 'lacking' but thats how it goes!ell done ITV2 for these great Pop Idol extra programmes - shame last Saturdays wasnt that great - but oh well - here's to the next few weeks!

Indeed. Although the show is mainly about the singing, the banter and games on Pop Idol Extra is just as good as the actual show. Kate Thornton is very good at what she does as well. She said yesterday that Sam and Mark were like the next Ant and Dec what with all the gags they used to do on Extra. I have to agree that the banter the main hosts have with Kate is also good, yesterday was a good one when she said they needed to go to a break and Simon had a go at her.

Well if there is another series of Pop Idol I doubt it will be on before 2005/6 - remember there was an 18 month gap between the end of Pop Idol 1 and the start of Pop Idol 2. Although in between we had Popstars, although I understand that has been dropped too?

I think Michelle will win, listening to the War is Over track, she sings the most and seems like the most prominent in it somehow.

A fix? Surely not? Laughing

Well I'm gobsmacked that Sam isn't there. He was by far the best find, he put his own unique style on every song. Mark is a nice enough guy, but he's just a run of the mill singer. Michelle is just a big girl with a big voice.

Can't say I'm fussed by either. Sam should have won.

It's just such a pity the whole voting process is rigged though.
Prey please this will be the last in what is becoming very tedious television! Rolling Eyes

Is that slander or libel?

This series has been made by the shock results, which in hindsight have been pretty predictable, as each week it's been the ones who under perform who have been kicked out, so those who set a high standard every week can't afford one bad show.

Out of the final three, Sam is the one most likely to make it on their own, and my prediction to win - Mark, as he'll benefit from Sam's dismissal.

Laughing Every Reality TV show is fixed, it wouldn't be following the format if it wasn't...the fact that fans of the winners and losers all claim the same thing is immaterial.
That's part of the fun- seeing how each group of fans react.
I think PI 2 has been the dampest squib in the box, but as a cynic, I do enjoy listening to all the reasons people give as to why their favourite has been booted out.

Cool Was that the first time Pete had spoken sense on Saturday when he said it wasn't about the music? Had he learnt nothing from Popstars TR?

Even if Pop "IDLE" didn't return next year I don't think you will get anything less tackier. There will be probably an equally tacky or perhaps worse example of ITV drawing tele-money out of its Saturday night audience.
