I doubt a 60 second countdown has actually happened on BBC World since Monday - they are very rare. I too uploaded some videos early on in this thread from the first bulletin of the new look, so you can see the countdown in those.

Better TOTH!

but when's Jane going home?

and they've got the heavyweight crew in now Gavin Esler, Guto Harri and co.

Was Jane the duty news presenter for BBC One today or has she been called in specially?

Jane's been on air continuously since 11am!!!

She may be the duty presenter, but this usually entails them doing a few news summaries, not 7 hours of continuous broadcasting!

She's doing well though, and if she's happy I suppose they're letting her stay.

Why Gavin Esler though? He's not a N24 presenter anymore.

Glad they've got the ticker up, but for God's sake why can't they put some other news on it rather than just Saddam!!!? If you look at the front page of NOL you'll see another 7 stories just in the top half! Why can't the ticker show these?

Well I should think because: had Peter Sissons been here, it would have been his shift, so he would be on now. Andrew Simmonds stood in for Peter yesterday so I presume he was doing the same today. Andrew is incompetent and whould have buggered it up. Therefore Ex NEws 24 presenter - Gavin Elser is brought back!

BBC World played the extended version of the closing music in the last hour.

Does anyone have the extended closing music?

Plus Gavin was the senior presenter at N24 when he was there - he was always called in for major news, just like Nik Gowing was for BBC World today. Is Jane Hill now the senior presenter? It should either be her or Phil Hayton, as they must be some of the longest standing presenters on the channel.

BBC News Special from the Newsnight team on BBC Two/News 24 currently.

They're using the BBC News version of the tower on the News Special on BBC Two now. Jane Hill said that it was "with the Newsnight team." I wonder what she means by that?

They really should make the globe on this tower animate - at the moment you can't tell it's meant to be a globe at all - it just looks like a red splodge.

ben brown's report used graphics with Gill Sans and not the new Swiss font! Naughty! So everyone is now the Newsnight team!!!!!!!!!

the "Newsnight" bulletin is also going out on World - presumably to give Nik Gowing a bit of a breather..

Presumably this is meant to be a more analytical hour than the rest of the day's coverage, hence the 'Newsnight team'. And obviously Gavin Esler is presenting, although I have to admit I didn't notice anything strange about this until more than half an hour into the programme - shows how much I've been watching News 24 in recent months!!

I like the way three different "towers" are being used on the same broadcast. It works nicely, and means that the DOG will always fit in with the rest of the graphics.
