I have to say I prefer the Idents and Astons you have created. I thing purple might be the wrong colour to use with breaking news stories, apart from that I like them.

Absolutely fantastic! The only thing I'm not too sure about is the angle of the 'Live @ Five' - but it's a very minor thing.

Definitely some of the best mocks I've ever seen on here

Just to add - The bar at the bottom isn't a ticker but would work like the bars on Sky Sports News, displaying text in bursts and then fading before displaying the next lot.

The text on the far left of the infobar is purposely left outside the 4:3 safe area but within the 16:9 safe area.

The infobar wouldn't also be permantely on screen except for Sunrise. It would appear during live reports giving more background information, during Business reports giving the latest state of the markets, during sports news giving the latest scores etc.

Live at Five is renamed slightly as Live @ Five, highlighting the interactive aspect that it will take. Viewers will be invited to contribute Emails and Texts for 6pm when for 30 mins it will take the form of a Your Call style show.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm. The astons are alright, but the titles are horrible, to be blunt. Dunno why, I just don't like them at all. Sorry!

It has come to something when people on this forum design a better on screen look for a channel than the channel can design for itself! The best by far, amazing mocks! (Though I do think that mocks is the wrong word here, as these should be used on air!)

Right ive allways wondered this:

Those mocks are fantastic but is there anything physically stopping Sky News or any other channel from using mocks like that on air.
For example the computers they use to produce the graphics and display them on screen, is there anything like them not being powerful enough or possibly the time taken to change mocks like that with new text, that would make it impossible to fantastic mocks like these on air? And therefore we end up with pretty basic graphics on Sky News and others...

As far as I know, Sky News has a very sophisticated bit of graphics kit (although perhaps they'd have to get something else in to have that ticker??).

The main reason the graphics on the channel aren't that spectacular at the moment is that they've gone for a very simple look at the moment. I'm sure they could do all sorts of effects if they wanted to and put the effort in. Just look at the Iraq floormap as an example of what they can do.

These mocks just seem so busy and fussy, there is no immediate sense of style and class to these. The graphics work is good, but I prefer their current graphics...

Wow, you really went to town on this one - they're good, but some of them are very busy and there's lots of different colours about so I'd rework them to some sort of standard colourscheme. But, all in all, good
