One thing I noticed from my near-nightly viewing of ABC's World News Tonight is the system didn't quite seem so sure of what it was doing last night in terms of the Recorded DOGs etc.

At the beginning, a Recorded Aston flashed up at the bottom of the screen - then one came up at the top left of the screen with an empty Live bug, with the Recorded next to it in a black box. This of course laid over the top of head etc.

Does there really have to be a Recorded DOG etc on such programming? I'm not trying to provoke a DOG arguement here at all, because I can't stand them, but I just don't see the point of the Recorded bug/dog etc - everyone can tell it's an American show just by looking at it! hehe

Oh - and I think I've seen about 100 (not literally) BREAKING NEWS astons today, for just about everything - could you not have a Just In... (CNN style) aston for slightly less important 'New' news?

The changes to BBC News 24 are absolutely brilliant it has to be said, i'm well impressed with the set, although they need more shot's of the ladies legs Laughing

BBC World looks OK, I guess, I just hope they make changes to the set, they need the white and red transparent desk quick!!! the vamp isn't as good as the last one, has the ident changed in the breakfiller? it's still the old one last time I saw.

I actually like the new World vamps - they seem to have gone back to the beginning of the corporate era, with more of the strings like the national news. They've simplified it a little, which I think is better.

As for the breakfiller - they are still using the old ident as a bumper!

Another thing which they seem to have done, is made a small alteration to the person aston - yesterday it was all black of the same transparency, but now there is more of a difference of transparency between the two lines of info. They now look more like the BBC World ones, which are better. It might have just been my TV, but they certainly look different to me.

Nah, they've been like that since Monday. The top line is black opaque and the bottom is black translucent. It just depends what's behind - if it's lighter it makes the translucency stand out more.

As for where to put recorded, couldn't they just flash up a recorded strap at the beginning of the programme like the name strap?

Has the look of Dateline London about it, is this the same part of the studio used for all those emergency news broadcasts?

It's called a tower not a DOG / tower.

Screens are being worked on - they had been coated with an anti reflective material - which did affect the darker colours - rest assured its top of the list to try to sort! But I do have to say that the lighting is soo much better - all the presenters look FAB don't they!

I hope the resolution on those screens improve. people often look too pale or white.

But im wondering why News 24 didnt get any business or sports stings and secondly, if there are some on the forum who consider News24 set too bright, why on earth did they need a transparent lit floor?

The oak floor on the current bbc 1 set would have really offset the studio walls of n24.
