4. Why the big thick ARIAL font? It doesn't look "BBC" to me.

It's not Arial.

It's Helvetica. Well Swiss 721...

Don't ever call Helvetica Arial, can't everyone tell the difference? Wink

it's just more Germanic and boxy really.

They will fix stuff now (the globe has already been fixed to go the right way - if a bit juddery on DSat).

No they haven't, the world is still spinning backwards (it's the globe backdrop on the DOG btw, .not the one used on the titles or anywhere else).

Apologies Cwathen - it's me whose on a different planet - I've just had it pointed out to me that whilst it looks natural to spin anti-clockwise, this is not correct.

Anyone else for a slice of my rather large HUMBLE PIE ???? Embarassed

BBC World is also on the astra satalite at 19.2 W.

19.2E actually Razz

You're both wrong.. it's on Hotbird at 13.0E. In digital and analogue.

You can get it on both satellites, on Astra, it's a horrible analogue refeed courtesy of Canal+ and the one on Hotbird is Digital

Nice to see TVC on there. White city in glorious sunshine

Could somebody "in the know" point out exactly where the News studios are on this pic - I guess they are in the bit on the right hand side, that looks like part of the circular newsroom on there.

Is that part on the right an extension to the mainbuilding - it looks newer to than the rest (forgive me for being ignorant, I've never seen TVC for real!

I don't think the BBC would thank you for pinpointing exact location of the studios. Nor would the staff working in them.

yes it is all the bit on the right hand side. (edit: i put left Embarassed )

there used to be a really big ugly wall where the news centre is now attached and as im sure many of the UK members will remember, the big ugly wall featured on the credits to Live and Kicking not many moons ago.

Edit: Live and Kicking Title Sequence

Hello,

does anyone have the ending for the BBC World where the "globe" DOG dissapears at the end of the news? and the breaking news too, somehow it doesn't work on my RP8.

Yep - here you go! I captured this a little earlier when Keshini Navaratnam was presenting.

3. I felt distracted when watching the DOG hanging in the middle, especially it looks bigger than ever. Why not lower the DOG to the bottom of the screen? I think it would be more "comfortable to watch" it.

Hi,

They have to leave some space for a news ticker.

In Canada, CBC Newsword shows BBC World at 3:30 pm PST (and other times). When you have a chance to watch this edition, CBC Newsworld runs its own news ticker (similar to the one at CNN) at the bottom of the screen.

So, BBC World have to leave a gap at the bottom for news tickers from other broadcasters.

Hi,

One thing I notice about the large font is that it dynamically shrinks to give room for the second row.

It's pretty cool, but distracting.

It's awful and I'm going to keep it short and simple - the music isn't as hard hitting as the old theme.

I agree, the thunderclaps on BBC World are less authoritative and the headline bed is too slow.

World's studio looks unchanged. They've got a countdown based on the opening titles (big globe, no live action shots). Their DOG is similar to News 24's, but has bbcnews.com instead of a clock.

Hi,

I have read somewhere that BBC World's countdown clock cannot use any action shots because they have to be sensitive to the cultures and protocols of the worldwide audience.

What do you think?
