Well that's it! Bye Bye Sky!!!!!
What a vast improvement.
Firstly, the thing which stands out is the graphics. They're clear, dynamic and informative. I was waiting to see a Breaking News story and how it was handled. They've fixed all the faults they had before. The news broke during another report so they just chucked their nice big aston up - told you everything you wanted to hear, then over to the court for a full update, then up comes the discrete ticker (though you can't miss it coz it's blue!) which informs people who join late about the news. Perfect.
I don't think the astons are too big - they catch your attention.
There were so many 'lives' that you wonder why they bothered doing up the studio as we've hardly seen it! Though when you do it looks great.
Two problems for me...
Titles were a bit hmmmmm! Tho glad they kept the music and countdown, just updating them slightly.
Philip Hayton, a bit cardboard for my liking.
But that's it, the rest - so far anyway - is great. Can't see me bothering with the tabloid rubbish that is Sky News for a while!
One question, where's the sport headlines from?

Well if you look at the set, the graphics and music, it's obvious they have gone over budget and can no longer do that many live's.
Just think of the transmission cost.

News 24 is dead.
10am hour is practically identical to 9am hour.
They are even replaying live interviews from 9am. Why not do them live again?
Deary me.

That's the thing, how do you tacfully say it in a two word headline?
Good point - I guess it's the headline that all writers never want to word - though i'd imagine they have pre-written headlines or at least breifs on how to handle the situation should it arise.

I really don't know what they've done with News 24. Presentation-wise, it just isn't the BBC, it's not modern or fresh or original. To me, it seems cluttered and crowded. It just isn't there.
Editorally, there is no difference. It is repeating within the space of two bulletins. There is no change.
And whoever's rattling on about the Queen, kindly end it...

I always thought that's a ridiculous thing to say. You don't have to like something in order to watch it.
My rather simplistic point being that if you do not like something (I think we can agree c@t will not convert to News 24) then why do you watch?
I must be odd - I usually only watch things I like.

To Sky's credit - it's hardly tabloidy.
The 'look' might have been that but in actual fact, from today's caps of News 24, it looks more tabloidy.
