From Today's Sun Bizarre: Posh Asks TOTP fans for their verdict
VICTORIA BECKHAM has chosen the glitzy All New Top Of The Pops to put her two single releases to a public vote.
Posh is relaunching her solo career with a double A-side featuring pop tune Let Your Head Go and hip-hop track This Groove, produced by New York guru DAMON DASH.
The revamped TOTP launches on Friday and viewers will be told of Posh’s plans and how they will be able to vote on which of the singles they prefer.
Her double release does not hit the shops until December 29. But Posh will give TOTP fans a taster of the songs on Friday, December 5.
Viewers will vote over the next seven days before their verdict is revealed on the show on December 12.
Record label Telstar will then give the favoured track the most promotion — and Posh will know which style of music to focus on.
Telstar and TOTP are in talks over whether Posh will perform live or on film.
A delighted show source told me: “For Victoria to be involved with the new Top Of The Pops is amazing — and it’s sure to give her solo comeback a boost. It’s a good way for Victoria to gauge what her fans like.”
Posh’s double A-side will be her first release with Telstar since signing a £1.5million deal last November.
It also sees her resume battle with old rival SOPHIE ELLIS BEXTOR.
Posh’s debut solo single Out Of Your Mind, recorded with DANE BOWERS, was beaten to No1 three years ago by Sophie and dance guru SPILLER’s club anthem Groovejet.
Since then Sophie has had No2 hits with Take Me Home and Murder On The Dancefloor and a No3 with Music Gets The Best Of Me.
Posh flagged after Not Such An Innocent Girl and Mind Of Its Own failed to make the Top Five. She was dumped by Virgin before Telstar signed her.
This seems to be the first example of the new voting system

"That music sounds very similar to the countdown from the early 90s, and there's no bad thing in that! I like it, sounds much more pacy."
It is.
I should have noticed by the hints that Tony Gibber (responsible for the "Now Get Out Of That" theme) was involved, and Heat's proclamation that "the theme used since 1991" meant its return.
btw, I believe TOTP2 will not be launching the new logo this week, and it will retain CCS's version of "Whole Lotta Love" as its theme tune. Likewise the services of Steve Wright.

Seems to be the reverse of what happened before- when the show launched in 1994 it was using the TOTP logo that wasn't used on the main show until Feb 1995!

There was a great articlein today's MediaGuardian about Top of The Pops approaching 40, yet going for an editorial decision of going for more features like its nearest rival cd:uk that it says even at totp's lowest figures, they still have more than half more viewers.
There was also a picture of one of the new stages.

I haven't seen the ones in heat yet, but as said above I saw a shot in the G2 section (not the media guardian as originally stated). The article can be found here but there are no pics on there.
The pic that was in was a big stage, (could be the main one), many speakers on stage, three of the circles motif's. Two on wither side of the stage facing in, the third at the rear of the stage, centre, with larger circles placed in front to form a tunnel entrance, with a three stairs leading down from this. Either side of this centre point, across the back of the stage are strips of lights. The predominant colour was orange in the picture, the motifs were orange, and so were the lights beaming upwards from the stage and across the rear also.. They also had green lights beaming down.
The whole stage was surrounded by black cloth. It does look very cd:uk like.
