That big press red prompt for the "latest" Soham case stuff is highly irritating being on the screen nearly all of the time.

Sky News' astons really are awful aren't they. The sooner they relaunch, the better.

I actually like the regular two-line ones they use in the day.

I wish they'd see sense and make the breaking news / latest aston a two-liner. It can't be that difficult. In the case of the above, change "Soham Trial" to "Soham Latest" and remove the top line.

edit: like this one:

they could quite easily turn it white and put "Breaking News" in the red area.

I wish they'd run the ticker 24/7 and get rid of the other three-line astons that they only ever use two lines of.

I don't mean to be funny or anything, but I sometimes think media companies get a bit too carried away sometimes. I mean, what sort of person is going to sit down and read through a full transcript of the trial. Yeah we're all interested, but that's just a bit unhealthy IMO.

They've stopped using that silly perma-aston since 6... wonder if they're reading TV Forum Razz

Well they messed up on their Hutton reconstructions- in exactly the way they usually fail...get across exactly what went on, but completely fail to analyse it. While News 24 were chairing discussions on Hutton, Sky were word-for-word repeating the events in court. Utterly boring and useless, I'd be surprised if anyone tuned in.

To be honest I find it hard to stomach any of this overhyped Soham coverage on any of the news channels. It wasn't that big a story last summer on rolling news channels until the tabloids blew it all out of proportion. A lengthy trial will now ensue, and most people have lost the appetite for it leading the bulletins everyday already.

Apparently there was someone on here who was from Sky News one night and some other member knew this person, I think this was one of the night's when Paula Middlehurst did the overnights in the summer I seem to recall. But as we know TVF has been mentioned on Sky News.

Someone who seemingly works for Sky News posts on Digital Spy, as the widescreen question has recently come up over there.

Didn't know we'd had a mention though.

I think TVF got a mention on Sky News on the forum's first New Year's Eve - which would have been December 31st 2001. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm sure a member e-mailed in about the forum and it got a mention.

Just to make perfectly clear before I start, I've only done this about twice. I'm not a total saddo, just a little one. OK? Good...

I was watching the gallery once, and they were flicking through TV Forum and making various comments, they laughed at the widescreen speculation and read out a comment to one of the presenters, and then talked about the TV Forum brotherhood being sad. Then I felt rather an odd sensation when one of em said something like "They're probably sad enough to be watching us right now. Who else watches?" It was as though they were talking to me.

I was deeply saddened by that, and haven't left the room since. The counselling should be ending in a couple of weeks if I do well.

Saddo?

Isn't that a washing powder?
