They have updated the presenter pages on the HTV Wales website again - new info for reporters Ian Lang, Stuart Mcteer and Rob Shelly - apparently Rob loves mid Wales. Laughing Nothing yet for Catharine, Sally, Carole or Tom Barton however but info on Tara Branford Wink!

Also a new section for the political team - Jo Kiernan and co - OMG Lee Walters is from Ammanford! Shocked

Theey also have a nice pic of our main anchors on the HTV Website!

All the info can be found at http://www.htvwales.com/whoswho/

Ive also noticed HTV are opting out of the network with the 2.30pm slot week commencing 10th November! Im glad they are doing this cos Wales deserves to have more local progs!!!

I disagree entirely. Of course there is a "West Wales" -- where are Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire then? They're not in south Wales, any more than Cornwall is in the "south of England". South West is as far as I'll let you have.

In my opinion, you've got

South Wales -- Monmouthshire across through Cardiff, the valleys to Neath Port Talbot and as far north as Brecon
North Wales -- Flintshire across the top to Gwynedd and Anglesey
Mid Wales -- Powys
West Wales -- Pembs, Carms, County of Swansea [Swansea is meant to be the capital of "West Wales"], and Ceredigion [including Aberystwyth]

I'll agree with you there. I don't think it matters how you divide Wales up you can either do it as you have or have 3 big regions North Mid and South.

Swansea is certainly not the capital of West Wales. Swansea is, as Dylan Thomas once famously commented 'the graveyard of ambition'. I drive past Swansea at least twice a week and the closest I get to actually visiting it, is to stop off at Swansea west services to urinate in their toilets.

There isn't much in Pembrokeshire this time of year when all the tourist attractions have closed for the winter. Oakwood closes this weekend I think, and wont re-open until Easter. Tenby is like a ghost-town now with all the touristy nick-nack shops all shut now until then also. Sad

Oh dear god, I knew there was a reason why I didn't like him [apart from his cold sores that never go away]. Don't you agree he sounds like he's from the valleys? Catharine has a Bad Place accent, it's quite different. And that Claire Jones.

Hey hey hey, I didn't decide that Swansea was the capital of west Wales! It's just on street signs and tourist literature, that's all. It is the largest city in the west, but doesn't scream "west Wales" to me. Then again, what town/city would you say is the capital, Aberystwyth? Perhaps Gareth would disagree with that..[!]

I'll say it again, Swansea needs flattening and starting again, a la Cardiff. Something needs to be done about the *awfulness* of all the northern areas [ugh], and stop Port Talbot dumping in the bay. West Swansea is very nice though, as you get to Sketty, and go through Killay and Dunvant and on to the Gower [or Carmarthenshire if you're foolish]. Lovely.

I agree about Lee's accent, it does sound like its from the valleys - my accent isnt as strong as his as I have a Swansea accent. I dont like Lee much anyway, I prefer Tom Barton. Very Happy
I dont mind Catharine's accent, its a nice strong Welsh accent and she is a lovely person im sure you all agree! I dont think we ever found out for sure where she is from, maybe the "Bad Place" - maybe not, im really not sure.

TV D I dont think Swansea needs rebuilding again? Where are you suggesting? The shoppping centre and town centre? I live in Neath now anyway which is about 8 miles from Swansea, I live not far from Pontrhydyfen (if you've ever heard of that place?) Pontrhydyfen is supposed to be half in Neath and half in Port Talbot Rolling Eyes , although as far as the borough goes its all called Neath Port Talbot now so it doesnt matter anyway, I can assure you I live in the Neath end, I dont live in stinky Port Talbot!

*dusts thread off* Getting all dirty down there on page three.

Hello.

I was just wondering, pottering about as I am, are the announcements on BBC ONE Wales recorded after a certain time, say 12.30 or 1am? Not that it shows, but would it be possible for an announcer to have a goodnight name-check and handover [like the one that nice chap gave just now], when by that time, they'd be at home? They'd be saying goodnight to themselves. Oh well, small things..

S4C~ had a programme this evening on Sir Goronwy, who was the station's first chairman, and helped found it -- so, in the end, they marked their 21st birthday more than C4 did. Of course I didn't watch it -- that would be ridiculous.

Erm, I think that's it really. Byebye.

I agree, they should knock it down and leave it be.

Whataday, I think they should leave Swansea alone, it DOES NOT need knocking down :p I should know as im from Swansea. Wink
They seriously need to sort out the car parking in Swansea though, took best part of 1/2 hr to wait for a parking space in Tesco when I went shopping on Saturday morning in Swansea Rolling Eyes

Ive just noticed we had Tara on the 10.55am bulletin - did she do the GMTV bulletins too? I missed GMTV this morning, I also missed the weekend bulletins, I meant to catch the teatime one yesterday but didnt realise it was on at 3.45pm, oh well it was only Stuart, no-one important LOL

It also looks like they have taken my suggestion of keeping Andrew Jones for reporting on board, as this morning we have had Tara - bring us more Sally, Tara, Juliet, Jon, Lucy, Justina and Richard Morgan. Very Happy

That was a well made documentery on the life of Sir Goronwy Daniel. I think it was more to to do with his death earlier this year, rather than S4C's 21'st birthday.
You should have watched it, as it contained a lot of recent Welsh history, - you might have learnt something!!
As for the Rugby World Cup, I would have prefered S4C's commissioned Production company to have used a real set, and not that "compromise" virtual reality set-up.

BBC ONE Wales and BBC TWO Wales announcements are never recorded - there'd be no one to play them Very Happy

Of course, as you know, it goes back to being plain old BBC ONE and BBC TWO from London, depending what time News 24 or the Learning Zone begins.

I wouldn't go that far -- and anyway, coming from the city you do, you don't have a great right to criticise. Oh, and I'm not talking to you.

There was life before 2000 you know, and before that nice *24hrs* Tesco was built. Swansea had to survive on a store a fraction of the size with no extra parking and a long walk, laden with shopping, over to the NCP or St David's.
You could always go to Sainsbury's..

And yes Tara did GMTV. There was something different about her though.. Has she got new hair?

Other things on at 9pm on a Sunday!

And yes the Sky guide said it was shown to commemorate his death, but I thought I could have a dig a C4, since it's still marking S4C's birthday more than C4 have bothered to do. I'm sure the date for transmission wasn't random.

Yes there was certainly something different about Tara this morning - I just can't put my finger on it. Wink

Andrew Jones must be holiday in Swansea for a week!
